Features In The Sims 4: Discover University
The Sims 4: Discover University is filled to the brim with all-new features, making it one of the most worthwhile EPs released for The Sims 4.
1. Sims Can Enroll Themselves To University.
In The Sims 4: Discover University, there are two campuses to choose from when enrolling our Sims—the University of Britechester and the Foxbury Institute. There’s really no rule when choosing which school is the best for our Sims, but there are some aspects that set the two apart. The University of Britechester is a historical school that specializes in humanities, while the Foxbury Institute is a more modern campus that focuses on sciences.
2. There Are Plenty of Degrees To Choose From.
There are so many academic degrees to choose from. We can decide which of the 13 available degrees our Sims will enroll in. For example, our Sims could dabble in Art History, Communications, and Drama. Or maybe they would be more interested in Computer Science, or Economics? The key to choosing here is to know which degree is beneficial for our Sims in the long run, after they graduate. We can also take into account their likes and dislikes, and the current skills that they have. All in all, here are the available degrees:
- Art History
- Biology
- Communications
- Computer Science
- Culinary Arts
- Drama
- Economics
- Fine Art
- History
- Language & Literature
- Physics
- Psychology
- VIllainy
3. Dormitory Living Is Super Cool.
The Sims 4: Discover University introduces the new world of Britechester, filled with rolling hills, residential lots, dormitories, and community lots. Once enrolled in one of the two universities, we can choose to let our Sims move into the available dormitories in the said world. Living in dormitories is challenging, but is also super cool. Our Sims have to mingle with their dormmates and utilize communal spaces. They would have to find the balance between studying and having fun in these homes. Here are the dormitories:
- Foxbury Institute Dormitories
- Briny Tower
- Maritime Manor
- Tidal Tower
- University of Britechester Dormitories
- Darkwing House
- Drake Hall
- Wyvern Hall
4. There Are Awesome New Activities.
Also, as always, there are great new spots to hang out in this new EP, as well as new activities to do. For instance, how about adding cool bicycles in the garden or a Juice Keg in our Sims’ bedroom? Of course, if we’re looking for more interesting places for our Sims to try, we can let them explore what Britechester has to offer. This new world is filled with new nooks and crannies to visit and have fun in.
5. Has Anyone Mentioned Servo?
In The Sims 4: Discover University, the skill of Robotics is introduced. It lets our Sims build different mechanical equipment, gadgets, and robots using upgrade parts and other tools. The skill also allows our Sims to craft Servo from level 8 onwards. Servo is a life state first introduced in The Sims: Livin’ Large and in The Sims 2: Open for Business. Now, the adorable robot has made a comeback to the game through The Sims 4: Discover University. Servo can help around the house, repair stuff, and tend to the garden.
6. Students Can Join the Secret Society.
If we want to make the student life of our Sims more interesting, we can help them join various student organizations, one of which, is the Secret Society a.k.a. the Order of Enchantment. This mysterious org dedicates itself to appeasing and entertaining the Sprites. Compared to the other six university organizations, joining is not a straightforward process. Our Sims have to collect metals, crystals, plants, and baked goods and offer them to a statue to join. We can learn more about the hidden organization here.
7. Graduation Marks The Start of New Opportunities!
After our Sims have finished taking their program courses, and assuming they’ve passed all subjects, they will be eligible for graduation. Attendance at the ceremony is not required. If we let Sims attend the said event, they will be wearing their graduation robes inside the university stadium and will be able to have photo opportunities with their classmates, and other Sims. After the ceremony, they will then receive their diploma and graduation photo. What does this mean? Well, graduating with the degree will give our Sims an edge when applying for a job.
How to Enroll Sims In Universities
Once we have The Sims 4: Discover University expansion pack, we will definitely want to let our Sims join an interesting world full of educational adventures. Let’s take a look at how we can enroll our Sims:
- The application to universities is quite simple. Our Sims can do this using the mailbox, the phone, or the computer.
- We can let our Sims apply for scholarships before enrolling them. Check if they are eligible first.
- Later, click the Apply to University button. The application will cost 75 simoleons. Once we choose what we want our Sim to study, their application will be automatically considered.
- Don’t worry, this process doesn’t take much time! Thus, our Sims will soon receive the acceptance letter, which will detail which degrees or distinguished degrees they are eligible to.
Wrapping It Up: Let Sims Finish With Flying Colors!
Getting into university is not an easy decision. Our Sims would need to meticulously select the right universities and degrees for them. They would also have to consider scholarship possibilities, tuition costs, and housing selection, on top of the actual studying itself. In short, the university journey is a taxing one, but of course, also a very worthwhile pursuit, especially once our Sims reach graduation! Happy simming, Simmers!
