Astronaut Career Levels

In the Astronaut Career, your Sim can climb up the ladder until they reach the actual Astronaut position on level 7. From thereon, they can pick the branch that they prefer to further their career.

1. Intern

  • Job Description: Your Sim has always had dreams about exploring the cosmos, walking among the stars, and discovering places unknown. Their journey begins here, in the file room, categorizing expense reports.
  • Salary: §28/hour
  • Working Time: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
  • Promotion Tasks: None
  • Daily Task: Play Chess
  • Bonus: None

2. Module Cleaner

  • Job Description: Little-known fact: Space is an absolutely filthy place. When the shuttles return, guess who gets to hose them down and scrub off the gunk? Your Sim hopes the goo is just dirt and not some incurable form of Oozing Space Measles.
  • Salary: §34/hour
  • Working Time: 12:00 PM – 9:00 PM
  • Promotion Tasks: Reach Level 2 Logic Skill
  • Daily Task: Play Chess
  • Bonus: §581 and Astro Solar System Light

3. Technician

  • Job Description: Your Sim doesn’t think of themselves as just a glorified mechanic. The shuttle costs billions of Simoleons, and any screw-ups would cost lives. They’re more like a glorified engineer.
  • Salary: §54/hour
  • Working Time: 1:00 PM – 9:00 PM
  • Promotion Tasks: Reach Level 3 Logic Skill, Reach Level 2 Fitness Skill
  • Daily Task: Play Chess
  • Bonus: §756, an Astro Model Rocket and the Point Out Constellations interaction

4. Command Center Lead

  • Job Description: Guiding virtual rockets into place, analyzing the movements of blinking dots on a computer screen, and running simulations… Looks like all those hours your Sim spent playing video games are paying off!
  • Salary: §71/hour
  • Working Time: 2:00 PM – 10:00 PM
  • Promotion Tasks: Reach Level 4 Logic Skill, Reach Level 3 Fitness Skill
  • Daily Task: Work Out
  • Bonus: §869, a Star Seeker Original Blueprints, and the Track Satellites interaction on the telescope

5. Low-Orbit Specialist

  • Job Description: Low orbit is where the real action is-satellites, space stations, spacewalks, and daredevils attempting to break the world record for high-altitude parachuting. If something goes wrong, it’s also the closest place to breathable air, while is why your Sim likes it.
  • Salary: §96/hour
  • Working Time: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
  • Promotion Tasks: Reach Level 5 Logic Skill, Reach Level 4 Fitness Skill
  • Daily Task: Work Out
  • Bonus: §1,130, and a Portable Galaxy Lightshow

6. Space Cadet

  • Job Description: Your Sim was hoping that if he/she “accidentally” derailed a shuttle-board “simulation” he/she might be able to launch the shuttle and get to space…but it turns out that actual spacecraft are pretty well-secured. That’s good because your Sim is still learning how to space brake and star park.
  • Salary: §104/hour
  • Working Time: 6:00 AM – 4:00 PM
  • Promotion Tasks: Reach Level 5 Logic Skill, Reach Level 6 Fitness Skill
  • Daily Task: Work Out
  • Bonus: §1,299 and the Mission Control

7. Astronaut

  • Job Description: This is it: Astronaut. The best of the best. The heroic few. The job kids want to be when they grow up that they still want to be as adults. Your Sim will now go boldly into that great beyond to explore the secrets of the universe and eat weird, freeze-dried ice cream.
  • Salary: §119/hour
  • Working Time: 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM
  • Promotion Tasks: Reach Level 6 Logic Skill, Reach Level 7 Fitness Skill
  • Daily Task: Work Out
  • Bonus: §1,689, a Salyut Aeronaut Chair, and New Clothes

Choosing Between Two Astronaut Career Branches

After your Sim has reached the level 7 Astronaut job in the career and gets promoted once more, they will get a chance to choose between two branches: The Interstellar Smuggler branch and the Space Ranger branch. Make sure they choose well!

Astronaut Career: Interstellar Smuggler Branch

Inter Smug

If your Sim wants to go down the evil path of being an Astronaut, they can pick the Interstellar Smuggler branch, which will let them tread into dangerous galactic missions.

8. Moon Mercenary

  • Job Description: Any ranger who’s quick with a laser can make more Simoleons in private security than serving the public good. Your Sim protects galactic warlords, exterminates cabals of tribal terrorists, and helps corrupt governments maintain plausible deniability.
  • Salary: §201/hour
  • Working Time: 4:00 PM – 12:00 AM
  • Promotion Tasks: Reach Level 2 Rocket Science Skill, Reach Level 8 Fitness Skill
  • Daily Task: Space Mission
  • Bonus: §1,790, The Monolith, and the Alien Juice drink recipe

9. Alien Goods Trader

  • Job Description: Want the horn of an endangered zygax? How about a quilt handmade from 2,000 tiny Q505Bs? Maybe just a few Gibsonian chill-out pods for the big party next weekend? Your Sim doesn’t ask questions. They just make it happen.
  • Salary: §299/hour
  • Working Time: 4:00 PM – 11:00 PM
  • Promotion Tasks: Reach Level 4 Rocket Science Skill, Max Fitness Skill to Level 10
  • Daily Task: Space Mission
  • Bonus: §3,865, and a Zero-G Training Bag

10. Interstellar Smuggler

  • Job Description: There’s no trade route too treacherous, no cargo too controversial for your Sim to covertly ship across the universe and into his/her customers’ covetous hands. Capitalism is capitalism. And a 2000% markup is a 2000% markup.
  • Salary: §413/hour
  • Working Time: 2:00 PM – 11:00 PM
  • Promotion Tasks: None
  • Daily Task: Space Mission
  • Bonus: §5,025, a Retro Rocketship, and the “Traffic Control Room” styled room

Astronaut Career: Space Ranger Branch

Space Ranger

If, on the other hand, your Sim wants good to triumph over evil in terms of the Astronaut career, then let them choose the Space Ranger branch. This path will allow them to guard the galaxy against mischievous forces.

8. Planet Patrol

  • Job Description: Your Sim’s drawn a pretty good beat. They’re patrolling planet Illustria, which is scenic and upscale, with nice shops and restaurants. Luckily, they didn’t get the Bloodwar planet, which is also pretty scenic but has fewer restaurants.
  • Salary: §179/hour
  • Working Time: 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM
  • Promotion Tasks: Reach Level 2 Rocket Science Skill, Reach Level 8 Fitness Skill
  • Daily Task: Space Mission
  • Bonus: §1,790, the Build Your Own Rocket Kit, and the Space Energy drink recipe

9. Sheriff of the Stars

  • Job Description: This here galaxy’s your Sim’s jurisdiction now. Even-handed with the punishment and generous with the attitude, they don’t take no nonsense from alien punks, no matter now [sic] many tentacles or ocular cavities or rows of teeth they have. Also, they get to talk like a sheriff!

  • Working Time: 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM
  • Promotion Tasks: Reach Level 4 Rocket Science Skill, Max Fitness Skill to Level 10
  • Daily Task: Space Mission
  • Bonus: §3,149 and the Astro-Bunny Beyond Infinity

10. Space Ranger

  • Job Description: When the universe is in danger, one man/woman gets the call: Your Sim, Space Ranger! With his/her stout heart, keen wits, and a phozoplasmic Warp Pack strapped to their back, your Ranger defends the known galaxies from evil!
  • Salary: §422/hour
  • Working Time: 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM
  • Promotion Tasks: None
  • Daily Task: Space Mission
  • Bonus: §4,567, an Apollo Rocketship; some new clothes, and the “Heroic Deeds Headquarters” styled room

Astronaut Career: Other Things To Keep in Mind

top 1

For promotions, it would help immensely if your Sim is always in an Energized mood before they go to work, as this is the ideal mood in the Astronaut Career. To be energized, Sims can take a nap, drink energy drinks such as coffee, tea, or protein shakes, and take a brisk shower! Early on, it’s also important if they build on their Logic, Rocket Science, and Fitness skills right away, which can help them in their work responsibilities.

Final Thoughts: Ready to Shoot for The Stars?
