Climbing the ranks of the corporate ladder is much easier for your sim when you know promotion cheats!
The Sims 4 has so many ways for your characters to make money these days. Crafting, freelancing, odd jobs, and retail sales are just a few examples, but for a lot of sims they earn a salary by going the classic part or full-time job route. These are the kind of jobs where your sims will go into a rabbithole (with the exception of Active Careers—but you can still send sims alone if you want) and in order to get promoted they need to meet certain goals and have a good level of Job Performance.
That’s all well and good if you have the time and patience for your sim to work their way up their career but if you want to promote your sim as quickly as possible for storytelling purposes or what-have-you, there’s a much faster way to do it: promotion cheats.
Promotion Cheats: Level Up That Career!
With the use of promotion cheats you can quickly get your sim to the job level or salary that you’re looking for, and it takes very little time to do! To promote your sim:
- Make sure your sim is in the career track that you want them promoted for. Using the cheat on an unemployed sim or one in a different job will not automatically pull them over into the desired career.
- Enable cheats by opening the cheat bar and activating TestingCheats.
- Make sure your desired sim is the one currently selected, and enter the promotion cheat for their career track. If done correctly you will see the Promotion notification.
You can enter the promotion cheat as many times as necessary to reach the career level you’re after, and your sim will earn all bonuses and career rewards for every level they’re been promoted to.

Every career track in The Sims 4 has its own code(s) for promotion and while they tend to follow the same general formula, it can vary so you’re better off copying & pasting from our table below:

One thing to bear in mind when you’re using the promotion cheat is that eventually your sim might hit the point where they have to choose a branch of their chosen career track, but the cheat code should work the same for either available branch.
Note: You can use these same cheats to demote your sim in their career, by replacing “promote” with “demote” in the respective promotion cheat.
Troubleshooting
If you’re having trouble getting the promotion cheat to work, there are a few things to try.
- Double check that your sim is already enrolled in the career track you want to promote them in, and that they are the sim you have selected when using the cheat.
- Verify that TestingCheats is active.
- Make sure you’re using the correct cheat. If you use a cheat for the wrong career your sim will not be promoted, and note that some of the cheats are different for Teens vs. Adults.
If you’re still having trouble, try installing the AllCheats Mod by TwistedMexi. This mod re-enables cheats that were previously usable but have since been deactivated by the developers. I can’t see why they would ever deactivate a career cheat, but you never know with EA!
In Conclusion
Doing well in your career isn’t always a predictor for being promoted, unfortunately, but for our sims their career tracks are predictable and (usually) stable. If you think your sim is due for a promotion or you just want to bump them up anyway, a promotion cheat is the quickest and easiest way to go. Have you used promotion cheats before?
