The Photography Skill in The Sims 4

Buying a Camera

The first thing that you’ll want to take care of is the right camera. For this, you can visit the Buy Mode and find the digital cameras under the Hobbies & Skills tab. Here we will list the three available options and tell you what each is capable of.

  • Barely Better Digital Camera – it costs 85 simoleons, and it has an okay quality for small pictures only. Not recommended for big landscapes.
  • Appreciably Average Digital Camera – it costs 670 simoleons, and it has good quality for medium-sized pictures. You can also use the zoom and the flash tools as well.
  • Crystal Clear Digital Camera – it costs 2015 simoleons, and it’s useful for everything. It has the perfect picture quality with all of the tools available for use.

Obviously, you’ll want to pick the Crystal Clear Digital Camera for all of its benefits mentioned above. However, it also has the highest chance of giving you Outstanding photos, which is ultimately what you want.

Getting Inspired

Another thing that plays a significant role in leveling the photography skill in The Sims 4 faster is your Sim’s traits and aspirations. Generally, you’ll want them to be an artist. This means that traits like Creative or Art Lover are almost necessary here. That is because they influence the Inspired moodlet, which is the key to taking more photos and leveling up the skill faster.

A Thoughtful Shower is a good action that you can do to repeatedly get in the Inspired moodlet. Also, you can observe other Sims’ art through Admire Art and get inspired that way too. And lastly, if you own the Outdoor Retreat game pack, you could also go Cloudgazing, which is another proven way of getting in the inspired mood.

Taking Pictures

Taking pictures in The Sims 4 is straightforward. When you pull up your camera from your inventory, you can choose to either take a picture of a specific thing or browse yourself. You’ll also get a couple of options, like adjusting the frame, selecting a picture size, and applying filters.

Now, a common misconception is that you’ll need to take professional photos, much like in the real world. But to level up the skill as fast as possible, you should quickly snap pictures of whatever you can. The wall, the floor, the garden… it doesn’t really matter. Your Sim may point at some random object, and you should follow that instruction to quickly take a pic of it.

Doing this will give you the fastest results. Sure, later on, you can try your hand at professional pictures, but for leveling, it’s best to just do random snaps.

Photography Benefits

Through the photography skill, you can unlock some cool things in The Sims 4. However, the primary thing you can do is to sell your photos for money. You can either sell them randomly whenever you want or open up a photography shop and do your business there.

Another interesting thing is to start a photography studio too. You will end up taking up pictures of Sims in individual or group settings, and they will pay you for every snap!

Conclusion

The photography skill in The Sims 4 has never been the fastest skill to level up. From our own personal experience, we can tell you that it does take a considerable amount of time to unlock everything. But, we hope we gave you a clear idea of what you should be doing with a Sim in this profession. For more help, please visit our cheat page and familiarize yourself with easy solutions for the game!
