Something Grim is Coming On October 9…

On October 9th at 8:00 PT, something grim is making its way to the official Sims merch shop!

Spooky season just spread a little further!

Autumn 2024 in The Sims 4 has already had several exciting things happen, first with the Reaper’s Rewards Event and then the release of the first official trailer for the upcoming Life And Death Expansion Pack. That’s not to mention #Simblreen, a yearly spooky CC Event put on by members of the simming community which will be kicking off very soon.

But, if you are a member of the Sims Merch Shop‘s newsletter mailing list, you likely received an email today titled 💀Something Grim is Coming… with an interesting animated GIF to entice you:

If you’re familiar with the prizes attached to the Reaper’s Rewards Event then you recognize this little fella as the Glow-In-The-Dark Freezer Boney collectible, “the perfect companion for a late-night goth rave.” Well, it seems like our sims won’t be the only ones who get to collect this radioactive rabbit!

Something Happy, Something Grim, Something To Share With Your Favorite Sim!

We don’t yet know how many pieces will be part of this shop restock but since it’s happening mere weeks before the next Expansion Pack release we can compare it to the last restock, which was less than a month after Lovestruck launched.

That last restock—the Lurve Collection—focused entirely on the associated Expansion and gave us nearly a dozen new items from apparel and accessories to housewares and office supplies.

What’s Coming In The Restock?

We only know for certain that there will be a shirt with the glowing Freezer Boney on it, based on the teaser email. It looks like it will be on a sweatshirt or other thicker material, but there’s always a possibility for tee shirts, joggers, hats, and even tote bags with the new design(s).

With the vibes of Life And Death having an ethereal, otherworldly slant to it I wouldn’t be surprised to see more jewelry that complements the pieces coming in the EP, or even a key-chain with charms similar to something Grim would carry on his belt. With the Tarot-theming of the roadmap reveal and its presence in Life And Death, I (personally) would love to see a sim-specific Tarot Deck or even just a few illustrated prints of different cards that could come from such a deck.

Since the Sims team has already made a foray into scented candles, there’s a lot of potential for candles that carry scents related to the Expansion (it’s not like us simmers know what any of it smells like) such as Ambrosia, the Baleful Bog, incense like what might be burned at a Funeral, or really any cozy scents that resonate with Autumn such as certain spices.

It’s almost a guarantee that we will see at least one Freezer Boney plush, as there’s literally a plush Freezer Boney in the Reaper’s Rewards collectible pool and plushies are something that almost everybody loves. And since the shop has carried a skeleton Freezer Bunny enamel pin in the past, we might just see it return under the new “Freezer Boney” name.

Bear in mind that this is all speculation and based entirely on the Life And Death trailer and prior items for sale in the shop!

Holiday Shopping Is Almost Here

With the Lurve Collection and this next Grim restock happening less than 2 months apart, the notion that the Sims Shop will do a special holiday collection in December isn’t outside the realm of possibility. If you have a loved one who’s into The Sims 4 and spooky stuff though, something grim from the upcoming release might make the perfect gift! Even if you don’t know what to get your favorite simmer, there’s always the option of a digital gift card which starts at $10 USD (and you can buy them anytime).
