Pregnancies are a special milestone in The Sims 4. During this exciting phase, our Sims prepare to give birth to an awesome new Sim. It could, however, become quite confusing for us to know the best approach when it comes to our expecting Sims. There are a couple of complexities to consider as our Sims prepare for their little bundle of joy. Thus, in this article, take a look at the best tips and cheats regarding the pregnancies of our Sims!

How Do Sims Become Pregnant?

Our Sims can become pregnant in three different ways. These methods include the natural way, the intervention of science, and adoption.

• Natural Way – Sims can become pregnant when they Woohoo or Try for Baby with another Sim. This can be performed on various everyday objects in the game.
• Intervention of Science – Our Sims can also have Science Babies with themselves, or with another Sim. This can be done through quick taps on the phone.
• Adoption – Any Sim may also choose to adopt a baby over the phone or the computer, or they may also adopt their partner’s baby.

Can Any Sim Become Pregnant?

A Sim of any gender or sexual orientation can become pregnant. This is assigned in Create-A-Sim. Under the More Details option in Gender, we can choose three options for the Sim:

• Able to become pregnant
• Get others pregnant
• Neither

A follow-up question also asks if the chosen Sim can produce milk or not. It is important to know too, that Only Young Adults and Adult Sims can get pregnant. Meanwhile, Elder Sims cannot become pregnant, but they can still get other Sims pregnant.

How to Know If Sims Are Expecting?

If we want to know if our Sims are expecting a child, we can watch out for any pregnancy moodlets (e.g. eating for two, etc.), or we can observe their behaviors (e.g., in the first trimester, Sims might vomit on the toilet, etc.). We can also let them take a pregnancy test on the toilet, which will cost 15 simoleons.

How to Become Pregnant for Twins and Triplets?

In the game, it is not easy to have twins or triplets. However, each Sim will have a slight chance of bearing such babies.

• Chance of having twins – 10%
• Chance of having triplets – 1%

There are a couple of ways to increase these chances, however. In fact, there are four ways to try!

1. The Rewards Store – When our Sims have 3,000 available points, we can let them buy the Fertile trait in the Rewards Store. This will let them have a higher chance of twins and triplets.
2. The Elixir or Fertility – If we have The Sims 4: Outdoor Retreat installed, our Sims who have level 10 Herbalism skill can concoct a herbal remedy called the Elixir of Fertility (1 Blackberry, 1 Dust Spirit, 2 False Morel, 3 Morel Mushrooms) on a stove, a barbecue grill, or a cauldron.
3. Fertility Massage – Sims can also have a Fertility Massage, introduced in The Sims 4: Spa Day, to increase their chances of bearing twins and triplets. This is available for 380 simoleons at any spa.
4. On Ley Line – There is a new lot trait introduced in The Sims 4: City Living, called On Ley Line. When we assign this lot trait to any venue, the Sims who live in that lot will be able to reap fertile energy benefits.

Pregnancy Details

Sims will be pregnant for a total of three days, corresponding to three trimesters. During this time, we will be able to notice their tummies getting larger each day. They will also go through a range of both positive and negative moodlets related to their pregnancy. If a Sim is working, they will be given paid maternity leave from work to be able to tend to their pregnant needs. Once they go into labor, Sims can either give birth at home or in the hospital.

Enabling The Sims 4 Pregnancy Cheats

Before jumping to the actual pregnancy cheats for The Sims 4, we’ll need to enable them in the game. If we haven’t done that before, check out these guidelines here:

• Open the game and hit SHIFT + CTRL + C on our keyboard. Then, once the cheat box is opened, type “testingcheats true” in the bar. This will enable all the cheats we want to use.
• On the other hand, if we’re using a console (like PS4 or Xbox One) for The Sims 4 Pregnancy cheats, just start playing the game and hold down the four triggers. Do this at the same time, and a textbox will appear at the top of the screen. Enter “testingcheats true” in the textbox to enable cheats.

As we mentioned earlier, once we have a Sim pregnant, we’d have to wait three days before the baby Sim is born. Yet, not everyone has the time for this, right? Hence, if we’d like to speed up this phase, we can use a cheat code for it. Once we have the cheat codes activated, type in Sims.add_buff buff_pregnancy_inlabor. This will make our pregnant Sim go into labor immediately. Get ready for this!

Gender of the Baby in The Sims 4

There is a way to influence the gender of the baby Sim. We can try to make a difference (up to some point, keep that in mind) whether our Sim will have a girl or a boy. Simply choose different activities for our pregnant Sim.

• If we want a girl – have your Sim listen to pop music and eat strawberries. They are available at a market stall.
• If we want a boy – our Sim needs to listen to alternative music and eat carrots, which are also available at a market stall.

However, these processes can only increase the likelihood naturally. A good chunk of this process is still left for luck! But of course, we can still do things the regular way if we’d like to. We can change our baby to a girl or boy with the help of using cheats. Simply type in cas.fulleditmode. Then, shift+click on the baby. We will soon be able to enter the Create-a-Sim mode, wherein we can manually change the gender of the baby Sim.
