Although the Expansion is still fairly new, there are already several mods out there to improve Life & Death gameplay for simmers!
The Sims 4 Life & Death launched on Halloween and so far it’s been receiving lots of praise from simmers, with one Redditor even claiming that the EP has saved the franchise. Even the best pack won’t be 100% perfect though, and we’ve found a few small mods to make playing this EP an even better experience!

The Mourning Pose Pack

This set focuses primarily on additional seating & table options but there are also some expanded chandelier choices, a few BG recolors to match the set, a default replacement for the wall mirror to make it height adjustable, and more.

A columbarium is a vault type structure for storing cremains. They can be found in many areas and have been built into churches, caves, as freestanding structures, etc. You may have seen an example at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery if you’ve ever looked up a favorite actor who has passed away. The niche is the “headstone” for a person interred in a columbarium, which looks like a plaque mounted to their space.
This really cool mod has a base game version that will work for everyone and a Life & Death-exclusive version that allows you to add a sim’s photo to the niche (like you would on a memorial display) along with additional mourning options. Creator hamsterbelle even went so far as to make 2 versions of each, one that stays up all the time and the other that drops when walls are cut away.
This mod adds a whole new option for furnishing your cemetery spaces as well as the ability to cater them based on the world you’re in (for example Willow Creek is inspired by the American state of Louisiana where most burial vaults are above-ground due to ever-present flooding issues). It just a nice, simple piece of CC that slots in with the vanilla gameplay objects perfectly.

By default the world of Ravenwood has weather that doesn’t change much, with a perpetual Autumn being the vibe. Sure this make things feel spooky, but it’s not realistic and sort of flies in the face of the point of this EP. The mod adds some winter weather to the world, allowing the tree leaves to change color and a blanket of snow to accumulate on the ground. You cannot have life without death, you cannot have autumn without spring. Make the passage of time feel more significant by letting the weather show it as well!

A simple mod that greatly expands the number of Heirlooms a sim can leave to others. By default sims can have 5-10 Heirlooms depending on the sim, but this mod increases the number three-fold giving sims from 15-30 available Heirloom slots. It’s a near-necessity if you play with a large multigenerational family!

We’ve all seen the original hair this CC is based off of, and we’ve all had the same thought about how it looks. Winged-nemesis decided to take some pity on sims with this ‘do and created a version with a much better hairline. Version 1 is solid EA colors and version 2 has color streak accents.

Although this mod won’t affect Life & Death gameplay directly, it certainly makes playing that EP better. If you haven’t been able to complete the Reaper’s Rewards Event because you’ve been too busy to play, you’re not interested in working for the items, or whatever other reason, this little mod unlocks everything for you! This includes things like the Grimophone that can summon the Grim Reaper, a haunted painting that you shouldn’t look at for too long, and an otherworldly cocktail, along with all the awesome CAS content that was part of the challenge.
