Pausing Pregnancy In Sims 4!

Taking care of your pregnant Sim is one of the biggest responsibilities you can have in The Sims 4. Pregnancy simply takes a lot of your playtime, well before the child is even born. Some simmers go for the option and pause the pregnancy in The Sims 4, which can be a convenient tool for many of you too. So how do you do this?

It’s actually very easy. All you need to do is to type a few cheat lines and you’re done!

However, why would you want to pause the pregnancy in Sims 4?

Well, pausing the pregnancy has a few benefits, especially in these situations.

Let’s say, for example, that we have a family of 2 that barely have enough simoleons for living. And having the child may lead them to bankruptcy. You’ll then be forced to use money cheats to make it. But pausing the pregnancy may give you enough time to make more simoleons so your 2 Sims can live comfortably with the new baby.

Obviously, you can pause the pregnancy in Sims 4 for any reason you want. And it’s good to know that you have that option.

Now, let’s explain how exactly you can do that!

Enabling Cheats

Before you’ll be able to pause the pregnancy in Sims 4, you’ll need to enable cheats. Enabling cheats is one of the easiest things you can do in this game. But it can also be confusing to newer players, or simmers that almost never use cheats in their own gameplay!

Alright, the first thing to do is to hit CTLR + SHIFT + C on your keyboard while you’re in-game. For console users, this is equivalent to pressing the four triggers on the back of your controller.

The second step is to type in the new window “testingcheats true” and hit Enter. You’ll immediately be notified that cheats are now enabled in your game.

And you’re done!

Using the Cheat to Stop Pregnancy

After you’ve activated cheats in your game, proceed by adding the next cheat line.

To pause pregnancy in Sims 4, use this cheat “sims.remove_all_buffs”. That’s right, this is the same cheat that you would use for removing buffs in Sims 4. It will also remove any other buff your Sim has on them at the moment.

Important note: make sure you have your pregnant Sim selected before you insert the cheat! Otherwise, nothing will happen!

So what happens after you activate this cheat?

Well, your pregnant Sim will remain pregnant, but their pregnancy won’t progress any further. This lasts indefinitely, so unless you unpause it yourself, your Sim will never have the baby.

However, another essential fact is that the cheat doesn’t necessarily beats the pregnancy. Your pregnant Sim won’t be able to do some of the things that only non-pregnant Sims can do. For example, exercise!

And what about unpausing pregnancy in Sims 4?

It’s easy! When you’re ready to unpause the pregnancy, the only cheat you need to use is this one “sims.add_buff buff_pregnancy_inlabor”. And after unpausing, the pregnancy will continue from the same stage when you paused it initially. So, nothing is lost!

And that’s all there is to know about pausing and unpausing pregnancy in Sims 4. It’s quite an easy thing to do, especially if you’ve been playing the game for a long time.

First, make sure to enable cheats in your game, then copy-paste the cheats we provided above. You can either have your pregnancy paused for a short or a long time. The choice is yours!
