The Sims 4 Life And Death Official Images & Details

Take a look at these awesome Life And Death official images and learn more about what’s to come!

The World Of Ravenwood

The new world is called Ravenwood and it will be broken up into 3 separate neighborhoods. Each neighborhood has its “own connection to the shadowy passage between life and what’s next” because the veil here between the living and the dead is especially thin.

Crow’s Crossing is an ancient village where Ghosts wander the worn roads, their historical graves hidden along the paths and in old cemeteries. It’s the most bustling part of Ravenwood, with festivals and attractions throughout the year that celebrate both life and death in their own turn. You may find a Mysterious Merchant or a Casket peddler in your wandering, or a Crypt where sims can tell ghost stories or have a spooky tryst.

Whispering Glen is calm and quiet by day, but it keeps its own secrets. There is much history to be found here, from old Collectibles and Crypts to the Tarot Tome Shrine nestled below the ancient ruins. In the evening hours this neighborhood hosts a Moon Revelry festival which is especially wild around the full moon.

Mourningvale is the creepy place to be if you’re a Ghost or into the macabre vibes. Grim is known to wander the area which is home to sentient plants, the Baleful Bog, the Thinned Festiveil, and its the meeting place for the local Afterlife Anonymous support group. The Baleful Bog has something special in its waters that lets sims have a complete out-of-body experience and beyond.

Life, Death, and Beyond

The new Soul’s Journey gameplay element combines your sims’ Wants, Aspirations, and Bucket List, all contributing to their overall fulfillment. Sims will earn rewards for reaching these milestones including the coveted Rebirth ability. If your sim dies before they can complete their Soul’s Journey fret not, for they can continue on in their Ghostly form to fulfill those leftover goals as part of their Unfinished Business.

While still alive, your sims have the option to create a Will which details things like who will inherit heirlooms and/or simoleons, leave notes, outline plans for their Funeral or burial, and name replacement caretakers for any Pets of Children left behind. When they pass a Funeral can be held for them and players can choose the venue and dress code, along with activities from a list of 14 options to properly honor the sim who is gone.

As Ghosts, your sims have the option to linger behind as playful spirits or terrible apparitions, and they can foster Goodwill or Fear among the living depending on their choices. As they master their new Ghostly powers, the Goodwill and Fear they foster will pay off literally, with Ghosts earning simoleons from their encounters. Ghosts can Woohoo with other Ghosts in pretty much whatever object they want!

Living sims who want to do their part for those passing on can get a job with Grim in the Netherworld Department of Death (N.W.D.D.) as part of the new Reaper Career. They will work as a Grimtern where they will train to reap souls and aim for Employee Of The Month by beating the Soul Quota.

If you prefer a job more grounded in reality there is also the Undertaker Career track where sims can train to ultimately become a Mortician or Funeral Director and help other sims deal with the passing of their loved ones.

Grief is now a lot more complex and can be experienced in different ways for different circumstances. It’s not just relegated to death, either—your sim can mourn the end of a marriage, the loss of a job, end of a friendship, and more. Depending on the sim, their relationship with others involved, and their Traits, they can experience Denial, Holding It Together, Anger, or the Blues. There are positive ways to deal though, such as through Grief Counseling or by doing positive activities to work through those feelings.

Finally, sims who have completed their Soul’s Journey have the ability to experience Rebirth, a reincarnation-type experience. Rebirthed sims may carry over Skills, Traits, Milestones, and their feelings toward others from their past when they are reborn. Rebirth is even stronger if the Soul’s Journey isn’t completed until after a sim has passed, unlocking the Burning Soul Trait.

The final Life And Death official image from EA is a picture of the bonus items simmers will get if they preorder or purchase they game between now and 12 December. This includes the Lasting Legacy Family Portrait, Mournful Melodies Music Box, and Plumed Elegance Mask. The portrait is actually an update from a free Family Portrait object that was released in 2018 as part of a promotion with Sims Mobile. The music box likely comes with the option to summon Grim like the Grimophone from the Reaper’s Rewards Event.
