The Sims 4’s new main menu has caused quite a stir in the simming community, and we’ve got some replacement mods if you’re not big on the change.
As part of the new updates, changes, and incoming Events celebrating The Sims‘ 25th birthday, a new main menu was revealed during the latest Behind The Sims stream. It’s had quite a mixed reception from players with many embracing the updated look, while others have expressed their distaste for the change.
Luckily it hasn’t taken long for the modding community to figure out how to replace them, and there are already several new main menu mods out there you can download today (there are also a few in Early Access which we’ll add to this list when they become publicly available). Can’t find an override you like? Stick around to the end of the post where we’ll show you how to create a new main menu yourself!
New Main Menu Mods
From simple color shifts to full-on metamorphosis, there’s a lot to choose from when it comes to installing a new main menu mod!
The Sims 4 Main Menu Inspired By The Sims 2
For a real nostalgia trip, check out this main menu mod which is designed to mimic the loading screen from The Sims 2!
This link has a ton of different main menu replacers to choose from! There are several calming shots from different worlds in the game, multiple color gradients, and a few other random dark heart designs.
Funnily enough, when I first saw the new main menu I thought, “this reminds me of Persona.” It seems I’m not the only one! This mod has 16 different Persona-themed screens to choose from spanning P3 to P5.
If you like the main menu layout but want less intense colors, NekoChan-Simmer gives you 4 new options which includes a softer version of the original hues.
It’s unclear why the updated main menu has households looking so much smaller than what was shown during the Behind The Sims stream, but LunarBritney has made a fix. They’ve also offered a few variations like a lower saturation version and one with a higher quality image.
If you’re interested in taking the plunge and trying to create a main menu mod for yourself, Amethyst-Lilac has shared a tutorial instructing exactly how to do it. All you need is Sims 4 Studio and an image editing software of your choice. Comments on the tutorial suggest it’s pretty easy to follow, so don’t be afraid to try it for yourself!
Even if you like the new main menu, you might find that a modded version tickles your fancy even more! Changing up the menu can affect your whole vibe while playing the game as it’s the first thing you see when you boot up The Sims 4. And if you’ve always wanted to try making your own CC, creating a custom main menu is a great way to dip your toes into the modding world without needing a lot of skill or experience in a number of fancy programs.
Do you vibe with any of these new main menu mods? Have one you love that we didn’t feature? Did you take the plunge and try making your own? Let us know in the comments, and check back here from time to time to see if we’ve added more. Until next time, happy simming!
