Radio and Radio Stations in Sims 4
If you prefer a lively atmosphere and love having a stereo on while playing, you likely know most Sims radio songs. The Sims 4 has around 40 radio stations, 10 of which are reserved for DJ boots. While this gives your Sims a lot of channel options, there is always space for more novelty and new channels. You can always cherry-pick your favorite songs and add them to existing radio stations by going to Documents>Electronic Arts>The Sims 4>Custom Music and placing MP3 files in one of the genre folders.
Once you load the game, go to Game Options>Music and you will see a list of stations and tracks for each station in two drop-down menus. Check all the boxes of songs you want to keep hearing on the radio, and uncheck those you don’t want to hear anymore. However, while you can tweak existing playlists on original radio channels in-game, if you’d like to add new stations, you will need a little help from mods.
So, to assist you, we found two handy radio mods that will enrich your playlists and add more fun tunes to dance to. Let’s hop right into it!
To learn how to add custom music to Sims 4 yourself, check out this guide!
1. Custom Radio Station by Mercuryfoam
Tired of hearing the same old songs on the radio? Well, if making a custom playlist for the Sims 4 seems fun, this radio mod is here to make things a lot easier for you. Created by Mercuryfoam, the Custom Radio Station mini-mod allows you to pick your favorite songs and make a playlist for a brand new, ‘My Music’ custom station you can play on the floor and table stereos.
For this radio mod to work, you will need an XML Injector you can download here. To start using it, launch the game with XML Injector and Custom Radio Station package, and this will create a ‘My Music’’ station. To add or delete songs, just go to Documents>Electronic Arts>The Sims 4>Custom Music>My Music, and paste or remove MP3 files, be those your favorite songs, instrumentals, or podcasts.

2. More Radio Channels by SashaT1804
More Radio Channels is a radio mod by SashaT1804. You can learn more about it and download More Radio Channels Mod here! If you want to listen to different tunes on stereo or earbuds, you can now do that. Besides stereos and earbuds, you’ll be able to hear new channels on smart hubs, skate rings, water scooters, and hot tubs.
One of the best things about this mod is that it works not only for all stereos in-game but also for CC stereos. Customized stations have new icons, and function just like regular Sims 4 stations. This radio stations mod allows them to share opinions about recently listened to, and discuss their favorite or disliked stations, too. This is possible via Enthuse About (radio station name) interaction, or Complain About (radio station name) interaction. Plus, you can listen alone, or with other Sims!
These radio stations mod tunes are perfectly integrated into the Sims 4 radio system, which means that, just like when listening to regular radio stations, custom stations from the mod can be set as preferred or not preferred (liked or disliked) in the CAS menu. Listening to them will have an impact on their mood and they will get a mood balloon over their head as they usually do. Playing their liked tunes will give the Sim a +2 Happy mood (That’s My Jam) while listening to disliked channels will give them a +2 Tense mood (Not My Tempo).
A list of Stations and Customization
You have full control over these stations. Once you’ve played the game one with the mod installed, you will see new folders for each station in Documents> Electronic Arts>The Sims 4>Custom Music, where you can add your own favorite tracks and customize stations. If you decide you want to cancel the stations from this radio mod altogether, you can enable and disable them anytime in Game Options>Music.
