Add some personality to your own CC creations or play pranks on friends and loved ones with some silly Simlish fonts!

If you’ve played The Sims or any of its offshoots for more than a few minutes you’re likely familiar with Simlish, the official language of our plumbob-toting friends. Simlish premiered 25 years ago with the launch of the first game in the franchise, as a sort of gibberish-sounding collection of phrases that allowed characters to speak and convey emotion without the need to record dozens and dozens of voice lines in dozens and dozens of languages. It was a smart way to reduce the load of making the game enjoyable for players no matter their language of choice while at the same time preventing burnout that might happen if you heard them saying the same few lines over and over and over again.
While there is no direct Simlish-to-another language translation system out there, certain terms and phrases have stood out over time to simmers to the point that we can understand a portion of what our sims are saying. These terms include phrases like “sul sul” which means “hello” and “dag dag” which means “goodbye,” the word “nooboo” means “baby,” etc.
Unlike other languages that support the written word, Simlish doesn’t work that same way. Oftentimes when you see written Simlish in the game it’s either a word in English or another language that’s been given Simlish characters, or it’s a random jumble of Simlish letters that don’t translate to anything at all. A great example of this is the recent teaser image for the upcoming Motherlode Season where, with enough focus, English readers can translate a majority of the ads featured directly into real English words.
Simlish Fonts For Your Own Use!
With the recent release of a new official Sims font and a Simlish equivalent as well, we thought it would be fun this #MaxisMatchModay to share other great Simlish fonts that creators have released over time. You can use these fonts for your own MM custom content projects, to share “secret messages” with fellow simmers, or print up some signs or posters with it to confuse the non-simmers around you!
A lot of these Simlish fonts are only a portion of the creator’s font offerings, so be sure to check out their pages for even more goodies if you like what you see here!
