Using poses in The Sims 4 just got easier than ever thanks to the Pose Alignment Interactions mod!

Posing sims isn’t something most Sims 4 players will do. It’s a function most often utilized by players who are telling stories, and creators taking in-game shots of CC they’ve made. That doesn’t necessarily mean a casual player will never do it however, as it’s also great for taking fun random screenshots just because. Regardless of the reason, getting the hang of using poses can be a little tricky!

A new mod called Pose Alignment Interactions dropped recently, and it’s a fantastic tool for making the taking of screenshots so much easier. It’s especially helpful when you have a prop such as a piece of furniture as part of the pose. There is a bit of prep work involved in getting the mod to work, but we have a full how-to here for you. Let’s get started!

How To Use Pose Alignment Interactions

Before getting started with Pose Alignment Interactions you will need a way to enable poses in-game. There are a few mods that do this. The most common one that you’ve probably heard of is Pose Player, but there are also posing capabilities built into Wonderful Whims so if you use that mod, you’re already set!

Finding Poses

Once you have your pose player of choice, you need some poses to use with it! Here at SnootySims we have lots of pose lists you can chose from, several of which will be linked in the Related Content section at the bottom of this post.

Downloading Pose Alignment Interactions

As of writing, the newest version of Pose Alignment Interactions can be found here. You should definitely check out the post from the first version though, as that’s where most of the information and instructions for the mod are located. There’s even a nifty video to show you how it all works.

Using Pose Alignment Interactions In Game

Once you have everything you need installed, it’s time to pose! The two features of the Pose Alignment Interactions Mod that make it stand out are the location and alignment features.

Location: Once a sim is posed, you can move them pretty much anywhere you want. Click a spot on the floor/ground and you can choose “Move to” which will then snap your sim to the location you’ve selected. If they’re in the right place but facing the wrong direction, click a spot on the floor/ground in the direction you want the sim to face and choose “Rotate towards” which will turn the sim without moving them from their current spot.

Alignment: If your pose involves multiple sims or objects such as furniture, the alignment features make it easy to get everything synced up! Get your sims into the poses you want, then click the furniture/item to be used with the pose and select “Align with” to snap them to the object. For groups, decide which sim is the one you want “anchoring” the pose. Then, select your other pose(d) sim(s), click on the “anchoring” sim and select “Align with [Sim Name]” and your currently selected sim will snap to the “anchor” sim perfectly.

Tips & Tricks

Here are some things I learned when testing the Pose Alignment Interactions Mod:

  • This mod (along with the pose player mods) won’t work if it’s placed more than two folders deep. So, you can have it in your “Mods” folder or you can have it in a folder within the Mods folder, but any deeper than that and the mod won’t show up in-game. For me personally, I have it in Mods→Posing which is the folder where I keep the mod along with poses and pose props.
  • Unlike other posing methods which require you to move the sim into position prior to posing, this mod has you pose the sim first and then move them into position.
  • You can combine Pose Alignment Interactions with Wonderful Whims’ posing abilities for more fine-tuned positioning. This was helpful for me when taking the header image for this post, as I had combined two different poses where sims had to face slightly different directions for everything to work.
  • If you’re using a group pose that doesn’t have any props and you want to anchor it to a specific location, place a small item on the ground/floor such as a bush and align all sims with that item. Or, align one sim with the item and then align your other sims to that sim.

Final Thoughts

Whether you’re brand new to posing or just want to simplify the process, the Pose Alignment Interactions Mod might just be your new favorite tool. It easily allows you to tweak the location/direction of your posed sims, and the alignment feature is incredibly useful for more elaborate shots. It’s the perfect pose mod for beginners and pros alike, and once you have it installed you’ll wonder how you ever posed your sims without it!

Now it’s your turn to take some awesome screenshots! Have fun with the mod and until next time, happy simming!
