The leaves will soon be changing, and so will The Sims 4! Here’s a look at the Autumn 2024 Roadmap that just dropped.

EA recently released the Autumn 2024 Roadmap titled “To Be Continued” with a mysterious and mystical teaser video:
Although the video itself isn’t too detailed, more info can be found on the EA website. Unlike previous seasons all the launch dates for upcoming content have already been revealed, so we know when to look forward to them. Still, there’s lots of room for speculation and predictions (which you know we love here at Snooty) worth getting excited over!
What To Expect From The Autumn 2024 Roadmap
We’ve got two new Kits, a Rewards Event, and a new Expansion coming between now and October 31st, plus some other free updates that are being teased. Today we’re going to discuss everything that was announced and look at potential symbolism behind the way EA has revealed them.
Two New Kits Arrive September 19

In just two short weeks we’ll have the first dose of Autumn 2024 content with the Artist Studio Kit and the Storybook Nursery Kit. This reveal is very interesting because the artwork is incredibly similar to the Tarot card for the Star (slight NSFW warning for the card artwork). In Tarot the Star is a symbol of hope, healing, optimism, growth, and creativity, which are all perfect motifs for the upcoming Kits. This version of the artwork has a bit of an ancient Roman/Greek feel to it, so we’re curious to see if that will make its way into the Kit theming.
Reaper’s Rewards Event September 24

A new limited-time Reward Event begins less than a week after the Kits launch, called the Reaper’s Rewards Event. Although less similar, the artwork for this card has the same vibe as the Tarot card for Judgement (slight NSFW warning for the card artwork) in that it has the main focus of the card is offering something to awaiting hands below; in the Judgement card it’s 6 humans on the bottom while here it’s 6 hands. The symbolism is a little trickier here as the Judgment card usually carries themes of second chances, resurrection, and rebirth; though the Cowplant is a great example of “second chances” in The Sims 4.
Could this mean that the items coming from the Event will be themed that way or even have resurrecting powers? Perhaps it means that the items are things that previously were meant to be implemented but ended up shelved, thus getting a second chance now? We’re very curious and excited to find out.
Life And Death Expansion Pack Launches October 31

Turns out that we were pretty spot on that a funeral pack was coming though it seems like there will be a lot more to it than that! Our first look at the Expansion Pack is in less than a month on October 3 and it fully launches on October 31 AKA Halloween, how fitting!
This card artwork is definitely a reference to the Death card. In Tarot, the Death card usually doesn’t mean death explicitly, and it takes on several interpretations depending on the position the card is pulled. Death can symbolize the end of something such as a relationship or period in one’s life, and when reversed it can mean a stagnation or resistance to change. Because this is a Life and Death EP, this card can symbolize all sorts of changes a sim might experience through their lifetime.
There certainly could be an aspect of resurrection or even romance based on the card art, as Grim holds a flower and has a butterfly fluttering nearby. Maybe Grim will finally find love for himself…
Free Updates To Be Announced

Finally, we can expect some free updates throughout the season although we don’t know yet what those could be. The artwork for this piece is much more literal than the previous ones—it’s a simmified version of the World (slight NSFW warning for the card artwork) card. There are multiple versions of this card but they carry the same design themes of a person in the middle wrapped in a sash and four different elements around the corners. In our case though instead of symbolic elements, it’s artwork of literal worlds from The Sims 4.
Unfortunately this leaves things very vague for us to interpret. The World might be just a blanket symbolism for how updates will span multiple aspects of the game, or it might be more literal with changes coming to the worlds themselves. Unfortunately only time will tell.
Other Hidden Symbolism

There may be even more symbolism hiding in this teaser than just the cards! The most obvious is the heart in the mug on the bottom right. If I were to make a guess, I’d think this was connected to the possibility of Grim finding love. It could be more generalized and just refer to love as part of the other card meanings but since we just got an EP all about love, I think it’s more defined than that.
Burning a white candle during a Tarot reading helps make the area a cleansed and safe space, and it purifies the energy around you to help facilitate proper interpretation of the cards. Perhaps we should have lit one ourselves before writing this post!
The cocoa on the upper left of the screen contains 4 marshmallows. Four is a meaningful number in Tarot, representing the four seasons, four elements, four cardinal directions, etc. It’s a balancing number that represents stability, being grounded, and reality. In specific cards it can also be a symbol of duality, such as the duality of life and death.
Tarot Theming?
With EA choosing a Tarot theme for this roadmap, it makes you wonder how it ties in with The Sims 4. Fortune Telling was a career path in The Sims 3 and it might just make a return here, and if the Buy/Build content has a similar motif then we can expect more content to compliment the aesthetics of the likes of Realm of Magic and Crystal Creations. Personally, I’d love to see more of this artwork in a full Sims Tarot Deck from the merch shop! It’s too pretty to keep here in a teaser video.
