Welcome Kids and Pets To our SIms’ Lives

In the entire Sims franchise, it has been possible to pursue the process of adopting kids and pets. These new members of the family can lighten up the household with their undeniable charm and presence, but the entire intention of welcoming them also comes with its own set of responsibilities. So, we came up with this handy guide that details everything we should know about adopting kids and pets in The Sims 4.

Adopting Children in The Sims Series

In the first Sims game, our Sims may sometimes get calls from the adoption agency asking them to accept babies if they want to. In The Sims 2 and The Sims 3, our Sims themselves can initiate the adoption of babies and children by calling the adoption center over the phone. They can choose from adopting a baby, a toddler, or a child.

Adopting Pets in The Sims Series

In The Sims series, adopting pets is another option for Sims who want to take care of new family members in the form of furry friends. Cats and dogs can be adopted in The Sims: Unleashed by going to Old Town community lots that have the Feline Promo Pens and the Fluffy Puppy Pet Bins. In The Sims 2: Pets and The Sims 3: Pets, our Sims can use their telephones and computers to contact social workers who can bring the pets personally to their homes.

How to Adopt Children In The Sims 4

Adoption 12

Our Sims can adopt children if we want them to expand their households. To start the adoption process, we should follow these easy steps.

Adoption 13
  1. There are two ways to adopt Sims. On the phone, click on the Home tab, and select Call Adoption Agency On the computer, click on Household, then choose Adopt. They can choose from adopting newborns, infants, toddlers, or kids. Doing so will cost 1,000 simoleons.
  2. Once the Sims adopt the child, they will disappear somewhere and return bearing the adopted child. We can change their first and last names if we want to.
  3. After that, our Sims can start building a friendship with the new addition to the family! They will even get a few days off after the adoption is complete, so they can spend more time with the family.
  4. If the last teen to adult Sim in the household dies, no one will be able to take care of the adopted children, so the game will pause and we will be taken to the Manage Worlds screen.

How to Adopt Pets In The Sims 4

Adoption 4

If our Sims are not yet ready to adopt babies, toddlers, or kids in The Sims 4, we might want to let them try to adopt a pet. Take note that we will need to install The Sims 4: Cats & Dogs expansion pack for this. This EP comes with many amazing features, such as adorable pets, nice items, and the ability to become friends with the pets. To adopt these said animals, here are the following steps we should follow.

Adoption 8
  1. Much like in the adoption of little Sims, our Sims can use either their laptop or their phone to adopt a pet. On the phone, click on the Home tab, and select Call Adoption Agency. On the computer, click on Household, then choose Adopt. This will cost them 200 simoleons.
  2. As with the kids, they will be able to pick from a list of beautiful cats and dogs. In adopting pets, our Sims can even choose to welcome up to three animals in the home!
  3. We can already gain quite a lot of information about the pets that are up for adoption, such as their traits, their ages (kitten/puppy or adult cat/adult dog), or if they are neutered or spayed.
  4. Once we click adopt, an Adoption Agent will visit the house of our Sims bringing a cage. Our Sims can interact with the pet first before deciding to adopt them. Once we confirm, we will be able to give a First Name and Last Name to the pet.
  5. There’s another method of adopting furry friends. If our Sims encounter a lovely stray animal along the way, they can talk to them and choose to adopt them this way. This is a great choice because our Sims get to help keep these animals from the streets, and they also won’t have to pay any fees.

Is Adoption in The Sims 4 Beneficial?

Adoption 15

It’s a great choice to adopt kids and pets in The Sims 4 because our Sims will be able to welcome new family members and help give them a nice, new life. Since the process doesn’t even cost a lot, it won’t be a big financial burden for our Sims. However, adopting these tiny humans and animals in the game is a massive responsibility in the long run that will require the financial capability, time, and patience of our Sims. These kids, cats, and dogs in the game are not simply toys that can be owned. They must be treated with respect, love, and care. Hence, only let Sims adopt if they are truly prepared for it!

Wrapping It Up
