Which One Should You Buy?

Ranking the best Sims 3 packs is extremely difficult, as it feels like favoring some children over others, even though you love them equally. From supernatural beings to University life and futuristic themes, all are to be celebrated in their own right, and all appeal to players in different ways. However, although they’re all fantastic, some deliver more than others in terms of fun activities and quantity of options.

No matter if you are looking for a new pack to buy or are simply curious about what Sims 3 expansion packs are about, we got your back. We tried to be as pragmatic as possible, and have ranked all 11 EP’s for you by how much they offer to the player, and how much they add to overall gameplay.

We’ve listed what makes every pack extraordinary, the novelties it brings, and also why we’ve ranked them the way we did. So, if you are curious, here is what you can expect from 11 TS3 gems. These are the best Sims 3 packs ranked. Let’s hope right into it!

11. The sims 3 – showtime

showtime

The theme of Sims 3: Showtime goes hand in hand with the theme of the Late Night EP. Showtime is the sixth among the Sims 3 expansion packs and was released in March 2012. The pack introduces a new shiny world of Starlight Shores that resembles Californian coastal cities. It brings three new careers: Acrobat, Singer, and Magician.

The pack introduces SimFest, and performing venues where Sims can get on the stage and try to impress the crowd with their entertainment skills. Sims can learn to DJ, which is a new awesome skill they can use to impress friends and perform.

There is a new death, Death by Magic, and Sims can meet a new life form, Genie, and make a wish. The main theme of the pack is performance, so new traits, objects, lifetime wishes, and rewards all match that theme. Players can also use a new feature, Simport, to send their Sims to their friends’ games.

  • Overall, Showtime is a fun addition to TS3, especially if you love live performances and living in a mansion by the beach. However, while entertaining, We believe that the pack works its magic to the fullest when combined with other expansions, especially Late Night EP.

10. The sims 3 – Into the Future

future

Into the Future was the eleventh of Sims 3 expansion packs. It was the last EP introduced for the TS3 series and was released in January 2013. This pack is all about time travel and futuristic gadgets. It features a new destination world of Oasis Landing, the futuristic town where Sims can experience utopian, dystopian, and regular events.

Into the Future brings time travel, allowing Sims to travel to the future and learn about their descendants and change the course of their history and storytelling. Sims can make kids using engineering technology, and get or make Plumbots, a new form of robotic life, using the special Bot Building Skill. They can learn new Advanced Technology Skills and use this to implement futuristic advancements in their home and time travel. Jetpacks, sonic showers, holographic TVs, hoverboards, or even taste special synthesized meals from the future.

Sims can embark on a new career journey and get jobs as Astronomers, work in the Bot arena, or become Bot Builders. Even art is futuristic, and Sims can make music using a special Laser Rythm-a-con instrument, or paint using a holographic easel.

  • If you like utopian societies, futuristic themes, and robots or would like to try them ravel, you will love this EP. This is a unique pack perfect for futuristic storytelling. However, in terms of everyday gameplay and the day-to-day lives of our Sims, we found this is one of the Sims 3 expansion packs that didn’t deliver as much as some other packs did.

9. The sims 3 – island paradise

island

Island Paradise is the tenth expansion pack for the Sims 3. It was released in June of 2013 and it introduced island living to players, bringing exotic themes to the game. Isla Paradiso is a new paradise destination where Sims can live and experience the beauty of island life. Long walks on sandy beaches, scuba diving, speedboats, paddleboats, and snorkeling are all part of the story.

One of the biggest perks of the pack is the ability to build on water. Sims can live in cozy bungalows, and become one with the ocean. Mermaids are now a thing, and so are luxury resorts! The pack introduces the Lifeguard career, and Sims can also earn simoleons by working at resorts.

There are three new deaths. Sims can die from shark attacks, running out of air while underwater, and, if they are mermaids, from dehydration. If not careful, they can encounter the scary Kraken creature while offshore.

  • Island Paradise is all about the tropical getaway. Although there aren’t as many novelties as in other packs, it brings us the beautiful world of Isla Paradiso, which is a gem on its own, and new fun activities Sims can do in their free time. While it brings some cool options and stuff, this is one of the Sims 3 expansion packs that show their fullest potential when island life is your primary gameplay goal.

8. The Sims 3 – World Adventures

world

Are you ready for an adventure? The Sims 3: World Adventures was the first TS3 expansion pack released, and was officially introduced to fans in November of 2009. The pack features three new destination sub-worlds and a lot of new quests for thrill-seeking Sims. It highlights travel as a theme, giving Sims the option to visit Shang Simla, inspired by China, Al Simhara which resembles Egypt, and Champs Les Sims, a stunning place that replicates France.

All three are relatively big worlds, filled with secret missions, special quests, relics, and mysteries, ready for you to explore. There are new traits, collectibles, lifetime wishes, and incredible objects for home decor. Sims even meet mummies, new supernatural occult beings, and even become one or die from a Mummy’s Curse!

Every destination replicates real-life destinations and architecture, all of which are impressive in their own right. There are three new skills to pick up: Photography, Nectar Making, and Martial Arts, which they can learn as they are traveling. They can even become professional Archaeologists.

  • This is one of the Sims 3 expansion packs that charms players with its incredible theme. It is for real adventurers who love getting to know different cultures. You likely may not travel and go on quests as frequently in the game, but when you do, it will be fun.

7. sims 3 University life

uni

If you are looking for Sims 3 expansion packs that will spice up your young adult’s life, this is it. The Sims 3: University Life was introduced to players in March 2013, and is the ninth EP released. It features a new destination world, the Sims University, and takes young adults on a memorable journey of learning, maturing, and getting to know the student’s life.

Campus life is multifaceted. Sims can join sororities, fraternities or live in dormitories and apartments. Social image matters, and Sims need to prove themselves to become a part of the pack. There a three social groups for Sims to join: the jocks, the nerds, and the rebels. They can use a smartphone to text, blog, or stream to raise their influence in social groups, or go outside and protest..

There are 6 unique majors they can choose to stay, all of which will grant them skills related to the major and a chance to land a desired job in the future. Three are also three new skills they can pick up, ScienceSocial networking, and Street Art. If you encounter a green Sim, worry not, it’s just a PlantSim, the new alternate life state!

  • If studying, social groups, bowling, kegs, and Uni life appeal to you, this EP won’t disappoint. You’ll love the realism of student life. The only downside is that you may not want to send your Sims off to University every time, so you may not fully employ all the incredible options the EP offers as frequently. Overall, a must-have pack.

6. The sims 3 – ambitions

invent

Ambitions is one of the best Sims 3 packs for those who like to grind. It was the second EP released and was introduced to players in June 2010. The pack brings a few new ways to make simoleons, including 5 brand new careers: Architectural Designer, Ghost Hunter, Firefighter, Investigator, and Stylist. Architectural Designer and Stylist jobs are awesome, as they allow us to re-style ugly townies or enter other Sims’ homes and redecorate them while playing our active families.

On top of these, any Sim who receives at least Level 1 in any skill that makes money can become their boss, and register as self-employed at City Hall. There is a new classic career track, Education, an updated version of the Medicine career, and interactive job tasks.

The pack brings one to the industrious world of Twinbrook, and a new life state, a SimBot, which can be invented with one of the two new skills, the inventing skill. Sims can try sculpting skills, and sell what they make at the consignment store. Kids can make money thanks to bake sales. Tattoos, motorcycles, and time machines are also a part of this EP, and so are.

  • If you love making simoleons, working on skills, and smashing career goals, this EP is worth getting. It brings useful activities and objects you can play with any time of the day, regardless of the gameplay plot, which makes it one of the highly versatile Sims 3 expansion packs.

5. The sims – 3 pets

pets

The Sims 3: Pets EP is (you guessed it) all about animal pals and one of the best Sims 3 packs for nature lovers. This is the fifth of the Sims 3 expansion packs and brings a new scenic world, the lovely Appaloosa Plains. It was released in October 2011 and it introduced new family members: cats, dogs, and horses. Sims can not only have these pets but also befriend them, take care of them, and teach them incredible tricks.

Sims can become real equestrians and live on spacious farms where they can train horses for races and learn Riding skills. If they are lucky, they can meet the Unicorns, the new alternate life form. You can pick various cat, dog, or horse breeds, or make up your own and give them personality traits. Pets can age, learn skills, have lifetime wishes, find partners, and even have a family tree.

Besides these three animals, the EP also introduces small pets, so if you love turtles, lizards, snakes, and birds. While these can’t be played like cats, dogs, or horses, you’ll still have fun having them around.

  • Pets are family members and very valid active Sims. Although this EP brings novelties that revolve mostly around pets, it is an incredible pack. This is especially true if you are an animal lover, as you’ll really get a chance to love, care for and play with animals in the game. On top of that, Appaloosa Plains is a stunning world. Some simmers may love pets, some may avoid them, hence the ranking on our Sims 3 expansion packs list

4. The sims 3 – supernatural

ware

If you love magic, thank this is one of the Sims 3 expansion packs you shouldn’t skip. Released on September 2012, The Sims 3: Supernatural is the seventh EP released for the TS3 franchise. It features a new world of Moonlight Falls and a few new occult life states. Simmers can play with werewolves, witches, fairies, and zombies. Add to that ghosts and vampires which were previously introduced, and you have a full spectrum of occult things, ready to make your gameplay spooky.

Each life form has special occult traits, superpowers, and socials unique to the occult species they belong to. You’ll get to cast spells and hex others and make powerful elixirs. There is a new skill for Sims to tackle, the Alchemy skill, which allows them to make magic potions.

Psychic Sims can now take a career path of an Alchemist or Fortune Teller and earn a living by foretelling the future. The whole pack is about the paranormal and occult, so expect a lot of objects that match the theme, such as witch broomsticks, gypsy wagons, and charmed objects.

  • The Sims 3: Supernatural is quite an extensive EP, with a lot of cool options for all occult creatures. Although not as ”practical” if you prefer to play non-occult Sims, it really brings mystery and magic to the game in a big way and deserves a spot in the top 5.

3. The Sims 3 – late night

late

Late Night is the third EP for The Sims 3, released on October 2010, and undoubtedly one of the best Sims 3 packs. This one brings a new shiny world into play, the stunning Bridgeport, the turban Sims 3 city of high-rise buildings and penthouses. There is a new cool life state, Vampires, creatures that move at night, drink bool, and can turn others into Vampires with a single neck bite.

Late Night EP is all about celebrities, clubbing, parties, and social networking. Prestige, butlers, paparazzi, and VIP spots are all here to help Sims enjoy their stardom lifestyle. Sims can make cocktails thanks to the new Mixology skill, and even butlers are back to raise the standard at parties and luxury homes!

Sims can pursue new careers in the Film industry and become actors and directors and raise to fame in big style. Besides the guitar, Sims can now also play the piano, drums, and bass, and even form bands and go to band gigs. There is a new subway transport system, new traits, lifetime wishes, and rewards, as well as a bunch of cool CAS and build/buy stuff.

  • The Sims 3: Late Night is all about nightlife and fame. So, if a celebrity lifestyle, working in Film Industry, vampires, clubes, and living in penthouses and luxury mansions sound appealing, this is definitely the pack you shouldn’t skip. A lot of cool options, and a lot of chances to meet folks, mingle and socialize. It’s one of the Sims 3 expansion packs that will definitely improve your day-to-day gameplay.

2. The Sims 3 – Seasons

snow

Released in November 2012, Seasons EP is the eighth and certainly one of the best Sims 3 packs. Seasons add a spice of realism to the gameplay by bringing in the four seasons. Every season has specific weather conditions that impact Sims. With it installed, hail, storms, lighting, snow, and yellow autumn leaves become a normal occurrence. Seasonal festivals, seasonal markets, and holidays are also part of the equation.

Sims now have to wear heavy puffer jackets during winter to avoid freezing, and kids can enjoy playing in puddles of water after a spring rain. Get ready to make snow angels or go swimming and diving on a hot summer day. The effects of seasons are very real and will impact Sims’ immune system, so get ready for some allergies, flues, or sunburnt skin.

Besides weather, players can meet aliens, who can abduct normal Sims, and even get them pregnant with alien babies. There are two new season-themed skills, so sporty Sims can now snowboard and play soccer

  • Although the pack doesn’t feature a new world, having seasonal changes in the game is more than a satisfying addition. There is a bunch of interesting seasonal activities and interactions, and it’s nice to see nature change as seasons change, and our Sims adapt to them like we do.

1. The sims 3 – generations

gener

Sims 3 Generations is the fourth EP and was released in May 2011. Although it doesn’t feature a new world or a bunch of new stuff, it certainly adds more nuance to how the game is played. The pack brings back the memory system to TS3, allowing your Sims to truly look back on positive and negative life events. Everything in the pack is about family, nursing, and growing up. Adult Sims will experience the turbulence of a midlife crisis and go on dates, while young Sims can get an Imaginary Friend, who is in a doll-like new life state.

One thing that makes it one of the best Sims 3 packs is the improved schooling system. Teens can learn how to drive and join High School clubs, and kids can attend after-school activities. The boarding school system, which is one of the best highlights of the whole pack allows parents to send kids and teens to study and learn new skills in one of the five types of schools.

There are new types of parties and events, such as school dances, prom nights, or bachelor/bachelorette parties and field trips. The pack also brings in a special cloning ability, allowing adult Sims to clone themselves to get a clone child.

  • If we could pick one pack that brings the most realism into the game on its own, it’s the Generations EP. Family themes are always welcome, and they will surely improve how your Sims develop, grow, and make memories.

conclusion

No pack is the same just like no pack appeals to everyone equally. We hope we gave you valuable insight into what you can get from each of the big 11. After all, you get to decide what rocks your boat! Have fun playing and happy swimming.
