The final piece of The Sims 4‘s 2025 summer roadmap has dropped, bringing new Skin Details for adult and elder sims. Pack Selection is also a thing now, but with a frustrating caveat.

As we saw in the summer roadmap there was a free base game update scheduled before the launch of the next Kits, and it’s here! This update has added a number of new Skin Details that add age, imperfections, and realism to sims who are growing and aging naturally, without the plastic-perfect features we’re used to.
New Skin Details

There are Several different categories where new Skin Details have been added for Young Adults, Adults, and Elders:
- Freckles – a set of deeply concentrated, almost “splotchy” style freckles are now available for Face and Body with different swatches for different intensities
- Eye Bags – an assortment of intense, wrinkly eye bags that can be found in Eye Details
- Mouth Creases – laugh-lines and other mouth wrinkles that coordinate with the eye bags which can be found in Skin Details
- Age Spots & Dark Spots – spots and splotches for different areas of the face that can be used for age spots, acne scars, burns, and more
- Rosacea – a reddish hue for the face to mimic the IRL condition, with several styles to choose from
- Stretch Marks – designed to match the stretch marks from a previous update, new options include markings for the upper arms, armpits, breasts, knees, and more
- Body Wrinkles – skin markings that work almost like overlays will add details to skin such as sagging wrinkles, visible veins, loose skin, and more to show age & weight changes
Pack Selection

Another feature that was added with this update is the Pack Selection option which can be accessed from the Main Menu. The idea is that you can choose to enable and disable different DLC for different saves so you can do things like shut off content with features you dislike or never use, give the game fewer things to run if it’s a bit older and struggling with the full The Sims 4 Pack catalog, or narrow down your options for things like Base Game or limited-Pack builds.
Unfortunately this feature doesn’t seem to be working as intended, or at the very least it’s not equipped to properly handle the demand of nearly 100 DLCs. Lilsimsie shared her frustrating experience with the “feature,” sharing advice not to mess with this menu!
The Alternate Pack Selection Method

Simmer James Turner, who you might recognize from his builds for the Werewolves EP or his extensive YouTube channel, already has a tool to help players disable packs they don’t wish to use. You can check out his Pack Disabler here.
Conclusion
With the end of the 2025 summer season we can now usher our sims into the autumn with realistic new Skin Details that add age, weight, and more to their appearance. It gives us another way to tell their stories through how they look, and lets us better capture the kind of characters we want to create.
Additionally you can brick up your game with the Pack Selector, which we suggest you avoind for the time being!
What do you think of the new Skin Details update? Personally I wish they came with an adjustable opacity, but maybe that’s just me. Do you like them? Let us know in the comments and come back in a few days for info on the upcoming Kits, releasing 21 August. Until then happy simming!
