Big changes are coming to Mac players of The Sims 4, and PC players can join them in claiming the Blooming Rooms Kit for free!

In late 2022 PC players of The Sims 4 (and other EA titles) prepared to say goodbye to the Origin Client, which had hosted their game libraries for over a decade. It was replaced by the app that bears the simple name of “EA,” serving as the studio’s sole PC gaming client ever since.
MacOS players were left to continue using the Origin Client to launch The Sims 4 while their version of the EA app was still being developed, but it seems like that will be changing very soon.
When Is The EA App Releasing For Mac?

There’s no official launch date yet for the release of EA app for MacOS, but based on the messaging from the official download page, users should have already begun receiving their invites to download it. The announcement post for the change was last updated a month ago, so it could be a matter of weeks or even days before we get the news of the new app drop.
(My prediction is that we’ll see it by April 16.)
Making The Switch To The EA App

Once downloaded and installed, the EA app will remove Origin from the user’s machine but not before copying over all prior game data. MacOS players should be able to launch the game right from the new EA app and pick up exactly where they left off the last time they saved their Sims 4 game.
Get Blooming Rooms For Free!

As part of EA’s launch of the new app for MacOS users, they will be pushing the Blooming Rooms Kit to both MacOS and PC players for free. This follows a trend of EA giving away content for free once per season, after making The Sims 4 base game a free-to-play title last year.
Unless they wait until April is over and release it to kick off the 2024 spring roadmap, this will be the first time EA has given us more than one DLC for free in a single season. Will this become the new trend, or is it simply their way of softening the blow for Mac users who aren’t looking forward to the switch fro Origin Client?
In Conclusion: Prepare For New Content!
Whether you’re a PC or MacOS user, you will see changes to The Sims 4 coming sometime soon. Celebrate spring in the upper hemisphere with a kit full of lush and vibrant plants, and if you use MacOS you’ll have even more new stuff to check out by way of the EA app. Now that the spring sale is ending it’s only a matter of time before we get this bonus freebie, just in time for the warmer weather. Keep your eyes peeled over the next few weeks and enjoy your freebie!
