Okay, you’ve probably heard it by now. It’s buzzing all over the internet: Are we hearing an official announcement about the Sims 5 soon? Like as soon as next month? Is the Sims 4 going free? Keep reading to find out!
Sim’s summit livestream
According to journalist Jeff Grubb, a sequel to the popular Sims 4 could be on the horizon. During an interview with Jordan Middler for Giant Bomb, Jeff Grub said that an announcement about The Sims 5 could come as early as next month. It could be announced during a Sim’s summit livestream, which is being held on October 18. Electronic Arts have said this livestream will be an opportunity to go into detail about what is in the future for sims and what products could be in the works.
If an announcement is going to happen then it’s likely to be discussed during this event. Should you want to attend this event, visit either the Sims official youtube channel or the official Twitch channel at 10 AM PST or 1 PM EST. However, keep in mind that even if something is announced next month it’s going to be nothing more than a simple announcement. It will be a while before The Sims 5 is anywhere close to being finished and played.
Is the Sims 4 going free?
Besides the possible reveal of a new Sims game, we also learned that The Sims 4 is going to be made free to play by October 18th, 2022. The base game will be made free to play on PS5, PS4, and PC via Steam and EA Origin, Xbox series X|S, Xbox One, and Mac. If you have an EA play subscription then the expansion packs will be made available to those particular players.
For those Sims players who have already purchased The Sims 4 base game, the Desert Luxe Kit is a free gift that can be downloaded. It has to be claimed between September 14 and October 17th. The Desert Lux Kit can be claimed in the main menu once you launch the game. Once you claim it you’ll be blessed with some furniture that fits a southwestern desert and modern aesthetic.
As for The Sims 5, news… all we can do is wait with bated breath!
