A new Sims 4 rumor claims the royalty-themed expansion could be the last major pack, with cut content, a scrapped African world, and more!

A new rumor circulating within the Sims community is sparking intense discussion about the future of The Sims 4. According to a post from @phii_oda, that’s been widely shared on social media, Expansion Pack 21 (EP21) could be both a royalty-themed expansion and the final major content release for the game.
As always, this information is unconfirmed by EA or Maxis, but the claims have raised questions about where The Sims 4 is headed—and what might come next for the franchise.
What Is the Sims 4 EP21 Rumor?
The rumor originates from a social media post by a known Sims insider, @phii_oda. According to the post, most major development work on The Sims 4 is already complete, with EP21 positioned as the last full expansion pack.
EP21’s Alleged Royalty Theme
The most eye-catching aspect of the leak is EP21’s alleged focus on royalty. According to the rumor, the expansion would introduce three distinct types of kingdoms, each with its own identity and structure. Notably, only one of these three kingdoms is rumored to draw inspiration from Africa, a detail that has already sparked debate and controversy among fans.
The Rumored Canceled African World
One of the more disappointing claims in the leak suggests that a fully African-inspired world was originally planned to be released back in June 2025, but was ultimately canceled during development. Although no explanation has been given for why the content was cut, the rumor has reignited long-standing discussions within the community about cultural representation in The Sims, the lack of worlds inspired by underrepresented regions, and how ambitious ideas are often scaled back or removed late in development. If accurate, this would not be the first time a large-scale world concept failed to make it to release.
Is EP21 Really the Final Sims 4 Expansion?
According to the insider, EP21 would mark the end of what Maxis considers “major content” for The Sims 4. While this wouldn’t mean the game is being abandoned, it would signal a transition into a maintenance phase focused on updates, fixes, and smaller releases rather than full expansions. This claim aligns with ongoing speculation that long-requested features, such as cars, may never arrive in The Sims 4, and that many of the concepts previously shared with players through surveys could instead be repurposed for a future Sims title. In short, The Sims 4 may be approaching the natural end of its expansion lifecycle.
