EA has shocked fans with a stunning new Sims 4 update that draws on the rich art, fashion, and culture of West Africa. The best part is that you can get it for free! This update adds beautifully designed decorations, colorful clothes, and even new food based on real West African traditions. Now every Sim household can celebrate their culture and creativity.

Partnering with Community and Culture
Electronic Arts worked with the Pan African Gaming Group (PAGG) and Simmers from the UK and North America who have ties to West Africa and the larger Black diaspora to make this update. Their voices helped make sure that the new items really show the cultural traditions that inspired them.

Decor that Tells a Story
Your Sims’ spaces get a refresh with décor pieces that weave meaning into the design:

- Okuta Lamp with Woven Shade: This lamp is named after a Nigerian word that means “stone.” It has a strong base and a shade with a texture that looks like it was made by hand in West Africa.
- Ìtura Cushion: The “Ìtura” cushion comes in colors inspired by West African fabrics. “Ìtura” means “comfort” in Yoruba. This cushion has something for everyone, whether your Sims want calm neutrals or bright colors.
- Visions of Home Decorative Art: A collection of framed art based on West African scenes and stories.
- Wallu Woven Basket: The “Wallu” basket, which means “to help out” in Wolof, comes from Senegal’s Wolof people. It has bright weaving and intricate patterns.
- Hiwe Area Rug: The Hiwe Area Rug is named after the Igbo word for “to support/ground.” It uses traditional weaving patterns and warm colors to anchor a room.
- West African Aloe Plant: This succulent adds a touch of nature with its unique triangular leaves and fiery flowers, which are inspired by West African plants.
Flavours from the Continent
It’s time for your Sims to make something special. Jollof Rice with Chicken Drumsticks, a popular dish, is now available. It’s a one-pot meal that tastes different in Senegal, Nigeria, and Ghana.

A decoration called Trio of Flavor, which has wooden bowls filled with ingredients from West African cooking, like Bambara beans, Guinea cubeb, and grains of paradise, is next to it. These add depth of flavor and a sense of culture to the Sims’ kitchen.
Fashion as Expression
The update also includes fashion inspired by West African culture, like fabrics with lots of patterns, jeweled colors, head wraps, and bold prints. These pieces are available for toddlers, kids, and adults in Create-a-Sim. They give families in the game a coordinated look that serves a purpose.

Each item tells a story, and the team behind the update stresses that this is part of their ongoing commitment to player choice and representation.
What This Means for Players
This update gives players new and exciting ways to be creative in The Sims 4. You can now use beautiful things based on real West African craftsmanship and culture to decorate your Sims’ homes.
Make the kitchen come alive by cooking and serving tasty West African dishes. Dress your Sims in bright, bold clothes that show off their cultural pride and tradition. With these new features, players can make stories that are more interesting and show a wider range of experiences, family history, and the beauty of cultural identity in the game.
