What can we expect from The Sims 4‘s upcoming Expansion Pack? The Businesses & Hobbies Reveal trailer shows us a lot to be excited about.

The Sims 4‘s Businesses & Hobbies reveal trailer released yesterday and while it’s under 3 minutes long, it has a lot of information! We learned of new Hobbies and that sims can teach their hobby Skills to others, or monetize it for themselves by way of small businesses. There’s a lot more to talk about, so take a look!
Additionally there was a Businesses & Hobbies reveal article posted on EA.com that shared even more information!
Businesses & Hobbies Reveal Trailer And Article: The Details
Take a look at everything shared in the Businesses & Hobbies reveal between the trailer and news post:
The New World Of Nordhaven

It looks like the new world of the Businesses & Hobbies Expansion, Nordhaven, is going to take place in an area modeled after Norway based on the name of the world and how the buildings look similar to Canal Houses of that country. Additionally, the neighborhood of Gammelvik translates to “old town” in Norwegian. Gameelvik and Iverstad are the 2 new neighborhoods, suggesting that this world will be fairly small.
Combination Lots

Similar to the Apartment mechanics that came with the For Rent EP, the Businesses & Hobbies reveal shows you can break up lots into multiple smaller segments. Instead of individual apartments though, split your space into Residential areas and spaces that can be accessible to the Public. This means you can make your Lots a combination of home and business spaces, and can even designate specific areas for Employees only.
New Types Of Businesses And Crosspack Play

There are multiple ways to make a business in the new EP! There are some new objects for making tasty-looking candies that can be sold in a retail capacity, add a Ticket Kiosk to let your businesses charge to visit them (great for museums, gyms, etc.), or provide specific services.
What’s even better is that these new mechanics are crosspack compatible! Per the EA article:
So Many Businesses, So Many New Opportunities!
A plethora of previous Expansion, Game and Stuff Packs have small business opportunities available for every type of crafty Simmer. See below for a few you can try:
- Cats and Dogs Expansion Pack: Sims who love and adore their four legged friends can open pet cafés.
- Get Together Expansion Pack: Sims who are down to dance until the sun rises can create dance clubs and Sims who game until the wee hours of the morning can open arcades for like minded gamers.
- City Living Expansion Pack – Sing your heart out in your favorite city at your very own karaoke bar fitted out with your favorite Simlish tunes.

Sims who run their own business get to decide what kind of place it will be, with their Business Renown affecting not only the business but the owner’s life outside of it as well.
New Skills: Pottery & Tattooing

The Pottery Skill allows your sims to craft a range of ceramic pieces like vases, pots, sculptures, and tea sets. With a high enough skill they will unlock Kintsugi, a Japanese method of ceramic repair which involves highlighting the cracks and imperfections with gold, silver, or platinum.

Tattooing finally becomes an interactive process with the new Tattooing Skill. Sims with a higher Skill level unlock more premade art options and have increased chances of Excellent tattooing results. Additionally, players can use new CAS tools to layer tattoos (yes, even those from other DLCs) and create their own completely unique pieces. You’ll even be able to exchange tattoo styles with other skilled simmers on the Gallery!
Exchange Knowledge With Other SIms

Sims have new ways to learn or share Skills, and can even make a little money doing so. Hobby Meetups are social events where sims can befriend others who share their creative interests and even find or become a Mentor. Listening to a Lecture will help your sims hone their Skills, and those with extensive knowledge can give said Lectures or even teach Classes on the subject. Gain Mastery in a subject to unlock special Perks.
New! Traits And Aspirations
After posting this article we got even more info about what’s coming in the new Expansion! Per Bluesky, there are two new Traits and two new Aspirations in the EP:
- Sims with the Idealist Trait “have high standards and strive to create a better world through their actions. They want to inspire others and lead by example.”
- Sims with the Shady Trait “are opportunists who bend the rules to get ahead. They’re skilled at turning situations in their favor, even if it means cutting corners.”
- Esteemed Entrepreneur Aspiration sims focus on business success and relationships, rewarding them with the Beloved Brand Trait that boosts customer satisfaction and business relationships.
- Master Mentor Aspiration sims wish to teach others their skills, rewarding them with the Motivating Trait which grants them the ability to boost skills and moods with their speeches.
