The Business and Hobbies Mod is bringing a fun little storytelling feature to small businesses in The Sims 4. Instead of simply closing up shop and moving on with the day, your Sims can now actually have feelings about how their workday went.
Created by Sasha’s Space, this is the first of more than 10 business and hobby mod ideas the creator hopes to release over time. The first release focuses on After Shift Feels, giving your Sims random emotions after they finish running their business.
Business and Hobbies Mod Gives Your Sims After Shift Feelings
One thing that can make rabbit hole careers feel more alive is the way Sims receive different moodlets throughout their workday. Sasha’s Space wanted to bring some of that same storytelling flavor to small businesses, and that’s exactly what this mod does.
Once your Sim closes their shop, they can receive one of ten different buffs. The emotions are random, but they’re designed to help guide your storytelling and give you a little insight into how your Sim might feel after spending the day working.
These buffs are available for Sims from Young Adult through Elder, so you can use the feature with a wide range of business-owning Sims. Whether your Sim had an amazing day or is completely over it, their post-work mood can now become part of the story.

How the After Shift Feels Mod Works
There’s one important thing to know before you start using the mod. Your Sim needs to close their business using one of the supported objects rather than closing it through the Owned Business Panel in the UI.

The mod currently works with the Ticket Kiosk Machine, Floor Sign, and Wall Sign. When you use the close business interaction from these objects, your Sim can receive their After Shift Feelings buff.

If you close the business through the UI instead, the buff will not appear. This also gives you a handy choice if you don’t want your Sim to receive a moodlet for a particular workday.

Business and Hobbies Interactions for Get to Work Objects
Sasha’s Space also added Business and Hobbies interactions to the business objects from Get to Work. This means these objects can now be used to open and close your small business with the mod’s interactions.
The creator points out that the open and close interactions are available on these objects, giving players another way to manage their businesses. Just remember that using the UI version of opening or closing the business will not give your Sim the After Shift buff.
This is a pretty neat addition for players who like mixing different packs and gameplay systems together. It makes the whole process of running a small business feel a little more connected to the rest of your Sim’s career life.

More Business and Hobbies Content Could Be Coming
This is only the beginning for Sasha’s Space. The creator says they’ve always wanted to make Business and Hobbies mods, but previously had too many of their own projects on the go.
Now, the plan is to eventually work through 10+ Business and Hobbies mod ideas over time. After Shift Feels is the first one, so there’s plenty of room for more small features that could make running a business more interesting.
The creator is also asking players whether they’d like to see these same open and close interactions added to signs from Cats & Dogs, Dine Out, and other packs. If there are particular pack objects you’d love to see supported, this could be a good time to let Sasha’s Space know.

Mod Requirements and Compatibility
To use this mod, you’ll need Lumpinou’s Mood Pack as a required dependency. You’ll also need The Sims 4 Business and Hobbies Expansion Pack, while Get to Work is a bonus for the additional business object interactions.
One other thing to keep in mind is compatibility. The mod may conflict with other mods that override the Ticket Kiosk Machine, Floor Sign, or Wall Sign objects. Sasha’s Space says the mod doesn’t override those objects, but instead uses their existing interactions to add the moodlets.
Final Thoughts
I really like the idea behind this one because it’s such a small addition that can make running a business feel more personal. Your Sim isn’t just closing the doors and going home anymore. Now you can actually get a little glimpse at how they felt about the workday, which gives you another excuse to build a story around your business-owning Sims.
Since this is the first of Sasha’s Space’s planned Business and Hobbies ideas, it’ll be interesting to see what comes next. If you’re already using small businesses in your saves, this could be a fun little upgrade to try.
