Once written, every dream is stored inside the Sim’s notebook, where its progress is automatically tracked throughout their life.

Children can choose a dream career themselves by writing in their journal, creating a completely self-inspired goal. Alternatively, family members can influence them through special Friendly > Childhood Dreams conversations about work and the future.

After hearing these conversations, children unlock a new journal interaction that lets them write down a career inspired by someone they admire. The mod then intelligently determines which family member inspired them based on friendship, conversations they’ve had, special careers, and even deceased relatives.

Once the dream is recorded, you’ll receive a notification explaining which career your child chose and who inspired it. Other Sims can even ask children about their dream careers, making these aspirations feel like a real part of everyday family life.

Family Legacies Continue Across Generations

One particularly touching feature is how the mod handles retired and deceased relatives.

Retired Sims automatically keep the career they finished with, while deceased Sims preserve the final career they held before passing away, provided the mod was installed beforehand and they haven’t been released to the Netherworld.

Young Adult Sims and older can choose to Move On from unrealized childhood dreams by interacting with their personal journal. Instead of permanently failing a dream, the notebook simply updates the status from Still Dreaming to Moved On.

Even better, the dream can still become reality later. If your Sim eventually achieves that goal, the notebook automatically updates once again, reflecting their new life path.

Helpful Settings and Repair Options

FrequentlyBasic has also included several quality-of-life features for players with heavily modded games.

A configuration file allows players to exclude specific careers from the dream career selection, including custom careers. Meanwhile, generated log files list every valid career currently detected in your game, making customization much easier.

The latest versions also include repair cheats for situations where custom careers receive updated tuning IDs after game patches. With testing cheats enabled, players can quickly repair dream careers and career inspirations without restarting an entire save.
