You Make The Sims: Spotlight on DeeSims

It’s been almost 2 years since the first direct collaboration between the Sims 4 and players, where members of the Game Changers program were drafted to build the lots for Snowy Escape. Since then there have been multiple collaborations under the You Make The Sims initiative, bringing diverse voices into the creator room and gifting players with a range of content for a more well-rounded gameplay experience. Today we’re taking a look at DeeSims, the latest simmer to have their content featured in the Sims 4, and the new hairstyles she’s created for the game!

Who Is DeeSims?

You most likely know DeeSims by her Youtube channel where she makes a variety of sims content from speed builds to CC features to gameplay challenges to machinima, or her Patreon where she shares lot builds and sim dumps. She has been a player and member of the sims community since the mid-2000’s, so she knows her stuff!

DeeSims’ New Hairstyles for The Sims 4

After collaborating with EA for the last few months, Dee and the Sims team have come up with 2 new hairstyles to be released for free in an upcoming SDX drop: a Two Strand Twists style as well as a Bantu Knot style.

When asked about her main goals behind designing the hairstyles, she said the following:

My goal was representation! I knew I wanted to create more textured hairstyles for the game. I wanted to embrace curly and textured hair patterns with day to day hairstyles and to create styles that are common in the Black community, so more and more Simmers could continue to see themselves in The Sims 4!

We’ve previously covered the lack of CAS content for black sims and sims of color, and it’s great to see EA taking these complaints to heart and working with the community to give us more, and better, content. These two new styles will be dropping November 17 so be sure to keep your eyes peeled!
