The Sims 4 is a game where cheating isn’t considered a bad thing. Instead, it can make the whole simming experience more enjoyable. Some players might even argue that using cheats is mandatory! With so many fun cheats to choose from, it can be quite a bummer when they don’t seem to function correctly. Here we have included 5 reasons why your cheats aren’t working and how to solve each and every one of them!
Useful Sims 4 Cheats
For those who want to take the easy way out, there are tons of cheats that simmers can use to make their game easier by levels. Check them out below!
For all the right (and wrong) reasons, cheating in The Sims 4 is such a big deal. Obviously, there are tons of cheats to use, however sometimes these don’t really work out… worry not though, we’re here to tell you 5 reasons why that may be!
5 Reasons why Your Cheats Aren’t Working
1. You don’t have testingcheats enabled
To make most of the cheats in the game work, open up the cheat console after loading the household you want to play by pressing CTRL + SHIFT + C. Type in the cheat testingcheats true or testingcheats on, hit enter, and you are ready to go. Click here for more awesome cheats you can use along with the testing cheats!
2. Some cheats are only designed for PC and do not work on any other platform
When searching for cheat codes online, make sure to include the platform you are playing The Sims 4 on in the search engine. While many of the cheat codes are the same for every platform, the shortcuts for the cheat box are different.
- Mac users: Hold down CTRL+SHIFT+C (the same as in Windows).
- PS4 and Xbox One users: Hold all four shoulder buttons at once.
Warning: beware if you are an Xbox One user because activating cheats makes you unable to earn Achievements and Trophies.
3. The cheat you entered has been removed from the game.
After the release of the Seasons expansion pack, many cheats were disabled. These are so-called Automation cheats, which weren’t meant for the regular Sims player in the first place. Now they are all back and available for everyone with the help of the amazing TwistedMexi’s AllCheats mod! You can download it right here.
4. You have Custom Content and Mods in your game.
Installed mods can sometimes interfere with the normal flow of the game. If you recently installed a new mod, try disabling it or moving it temporarily from the Mods folder. If that doesn’t resolve your issue, repairing the game might help. Open Origin and go to My Games Library. Afterwards, right-click on The Sims 4 and select Repair.
By the way, if you have issues with broken CC in your mods folder, you may want to check out this 2-step tutorial! It’ll walk you through finding and deleting these broken packs.
5. Other programs running in the background are preventing the game from running normally.
There are a few programs that have been known to interfere with the usability of the cheat console in The Sims 4. Some of them are Skype, Discord, Gyazo, and other similar Screen Recorder apps. This happens when the key combination for the cheat console is the same as these programs use. In this case, it is best to change the hotkeys to a different combination. If that isn’t possible, you might need to uninstall the program.
Cheats can have a significant impact on your Sims 4 gameplay. But problems can appear sometimes and stop you from having the best experience that you can have in the game. However, it’s essential to know how to fix them and continue with your playtime.
