Are your sims tired of the limited sports options they have in The Sims 4? Perhaps they’ll find their new favorite in one of these great sports mods.
With the Olympics recently taking place and the Paralympics underway right now, many folks have sports on the brain. There are so many different activities out there that are classified as sports, and if your Active sims are looking for new ways to burn off that energy a sports mod is a great way to do it.
In The Sims 4 there are multiple sporting options for your sims depending on the packs you own; the base game includes jogging and swimming, City Living introduces basketball, Fitness Stuff adds a climbing wall, Seasons includes roller and ice skating, Island Living has sailing, Discover University has table tennis, soccer/football and bicycling, Snowy Escape has skiing, snowboarding, and climbing, High School Years introduces American football, Growing Together offers bicycling for younger sims, and Horse Ranch of course is all about horse riding.
Despite there being such a variety, many of the vanilla sports are lacking in one area or another. Most of them are wrapped up under a single Fitness Skill or used more as a fun side activity than a means of exercise so once you’ve tried a few, you’ve essentially reaped the benefits of them all.

This list of sports mods is inspired by the range of different activities humans can participate in during the summer Olympics and Paralympics. There are a variety of mod styles such as careers, new objects, Aspirations, Lot Traits, and more, so let’s dive in!
Let’s Get Fit
Here we’ve got a mod pack absolutely stuffed full of great Fitness items for your sims to enjoy! There are multiple pieces of gym equipment including a variety of new weights and exercises to go along with them, a golf tee, skate ramp, and the mod even enables sims to workout to music playing on the radio like they did in prior games. This mod has everything you need to get your sims on the fast track to Fitness no matter their age or skills!

If you have a sim at the top of their Fitness game, turn skills into simoleons with the Personal Trainer Career. This Active career will have your character giving advice and inspirational speeches to other wannabe-athletes, creating guides, hosting classes, and more as they pass on their knowledge and determination to other sims who need a push.

This is an older mod, but it still works like a charm! The animated gymnastic vault will send your sims running towards a springboard at which point they will flip into the air and land safely on the other side. It’s a great addition to any Gym lot or dedicated gymnastics training build.

This balance bar lets sims perform a wonderfully animated gymnastics routine that, when executed well, can net your character a nice payday! Sims will autonomously use the bar, delicately balancing through a variety of moves with some jumps and flips thrown in for good measure. They can fail and fall off the bar in which case they might earn some pity Tips, or perform well and be given a monetary prize for their routine.

This mod is an Active career with 10 levels that will see your sims not only honing their Fitness Skill, but also their Charisma as they make their way through the career and gain a following of supportive fans. It’s great that we got a basketball hoop with City Living, too bad that’s all it is though. If you want to get more use out of this item without being stuck sticking it on a Gym lot every time, the Basketball Lot Trait will encourage your sims to shoot some hoops no matter where they are! Build a public park with a court area, create your own sports stadium and use Get Together’s clubs to bring teams to play, or throw one on the roof of your favorite celebrity lounge. Don’t forget to add a high fence!

Let your sims get their “kicks” with this functional soccer/football goal! Children and older will increase their Fun and Fitness/Motor Skills as they practice their offense, with fun little reactions when they make a great shot. Although this is base game compatible, it’s the perfect object for University students who want more out of their soccer experience than just dribbling, and it’s the perfect addition to your next stadium build.

If you’re a fan and want to marry that with your other favorite game franchise or just want more sports mods for your sims, this career mod is a great combo. Sportier sims can work up to Management of the Football Club, and those who prefer a more decision-heavy approach can enjoy the Chairperson branch instead.

If you find that one of your young sims seems to be a bit of a sporting protege, get them started early with this cute golf game. Toddlers can play to increase their Movement Skill while the kiddies get a boost to Motor Skill, and the game will get more involved as your sims’ talents grow!

With the Ultimate Tennis Career mod your sims can work their way up through a dozen different levels of tennis expertise, until they’ve become the GOAT. From there they can move on to teaching others with the Coach career branch, or take an easy retirement and gab their way through the Commentator branch instead. All in all there are 17 steps to get from the bottom rung to the top of either branch, so your sim will definitely be putting the work in!

When building sandcastles loses its charm, time for a friendly game of beach volleyball. Two sims can serve, pass, and spike the ball back and forth and there are even a few animations for missing it completely! It’s a great activity to throw down on your public beaches for sims who want to enjoy the island vibes while not necessarily getting wet.

Are we the only ones who still think it’s ridiculous that surfing wasn’t included with the Island Living pack? Grab this mod and make it finally happen! The surfboard object borrows tuning and pathfinding from the vanilla water scooter objects with updated animations that make your sim look like they’re really riding the (lack of) waves. Time to hang ten!

Not only can your sims use a skateboard with this mod, but they can use it to do some cool tricks too! The mod comes with a functional skateboard along with several ramps and rails which allow your sim to do jumps, grinds, and more as they increase their Fitness Skill and gain more confidence on the board. There’s even a few animations for losing their balance and falling off! All of the skate park pieces work independently of each other so you can build a park that suits your needs and enjoy watching your sim fly around on 4 wheels.
Note: this is not the only mod of waronkcc’s that includes a skateboard, but it is a separate object from their other mods and they can be used in tandem.

If your sim lives on a lot with the Simple Living trait, the Marksmanship Skill will come in handy. This skill allows your sim to practice pistol and rifle shooting as well as build their own firearms on the Woodworking Table as they increase their Marksmanship. With the Hunting Spot object (this file is also included in the Archery mod) you can spawn in several critters for your sims to hunt and convert into Wrapped Meat, making it very nifty for historical or apocalypse players.
An additional and optional file lets your sims challenge others to a duel but be warned, the consequences can be fatal!

Whether you’re playing a medieval hunter sim or a modern-day character who enjoys loosing an arrow or two, the Archery Skill is sure to hit right on target! As their skills grow your sims will get better aiming accuracy and eventually learn how to craft their own arrows, which makes use of the vanilla Woodworking table. There are a variety of bows, arrows, and targets to play with and your sims can even challenge others to a friendly competition.
Historical and Off-Grid players will also enjoy the addition of the Hunting Spot object which will spawn in creatures that your sims can hunt and convert into Wrapped Meat (this file is also included in the Marksmanship mod).

If your sim is such a fiend for athleticism that they can’t decide what sport to excel in, the All-Rounder Aspiration is perfect for them! With this Aspiration your sims will seek mastery in all athletic-type Skills including Swimming, Fitness, and Yoga, with the ultimate goal of topping out in the Fitness and Wellness Skills. If they reach all Aspiration goals they will be rewarded with the High Metabolism Trait, plus a nice amount of simoleons to put towards expanding their at-home gym!
