Can You Make the Days Longer in Sims 4?

For many of us, the passing of time in Sims 4 is too fast, isn’t it? Sure, we all skip interactions and fast forward here and there, especially when we’re doing everyday things over and over again. However, we sometimes need to slow down time and actually enjoy the day with our Sims. So, how do you make the days longer in The Sims 4?

It’s totally possible to have longer days in Sims 4. You can extend the time of your days with two methods: using a cheat or using the MC Command Center. Both methods can work, although it’s recommended to use MCCC for a better experience.

In this post, I’ll go over the two ways of making the days longer in Sims 4. I’ll tell you how to solve this problem, so you won’t have to deal with time passing too fast in your game.

But first of all, why would you want to slow down time in Sims 4?

Well, so we can actually play with our Sims! Playing Sims 4 sometimes feels like a race because our Sims can’t really finish anything without hurrying to do the next thing. They often forget or abandon actions and relationships just so they can get to their schools, jobs… And we don’t want that!

So, we prefer to make the days last longer in Sims 4 and spend quality time with our Sims!

Check out how you can change the weather in Sims 4 by using these cheats!

One Sim day lasts for 24 real minutes.

Here is a table of how time works in Sims 4. You can check how long a day, week, month, and year last in Sims 4.

How to Have Longer Days in Sims 4?

Like I mentioned above, you have two methods of making the days last longer in The Sims 4. You can either use cheats, or you can use the MCCC mod. I also recommend you to go for the MC Command Center simply because it’s a more reliable option overall than the actual cheat.

However, here are the two methods explained.

Using Cheat to Make the Days Last Longer

Before you do anything else, make sure you enable cheats in your game. Most cheats in Sims 4 won’t work unless you enable them first. Luckily, this is a very easy thing to do because you only need to type the testingcheats true line in the command console and hit “Enter.” For more information about enabling cheats, check this guide

The cheat to make your days longer in Sims 4 is clock._set_milliseconds_per_sim_second 1000.

After inserting this cheat, your days will automatically start going slower. However, many people have reported that the cheat actually causes game crashes, and it may crash your game too.

I’d suggest you save your gameplay before you use this cheat. You can never be too careful.

Using MCCC to Make the Days Last Longer in Sims 4

And my preferred way to slow down time in Sims 4 is MCCC. If you’ve never used MCCC before, then know that it’s pretty easy. The script mod has all the options you need to alter the gameplay in any way you like. You can download the MC Command Center here.

After you’ve downloaded and installed the MC Command Center, all you need to do is open the mod’s settings. You’ll quickly spot the option to change the rate at which days pass in Sims 4. It’s set to 25 by default, so you’ll need to increase it to 50 at least if you want a more realistic passage of time.

Now, 50 may be too slow for many players, so my recommended settings are between 35 and 45. But try it for yourself and see what works the best!

Conclusion

And there you have it! You have two ways of making the days last longer in Sims 4 – a cheat or MCCC. It does make a difference which one you use, simply because MCCC gives you more options when it comes to setting the rate. It’s also easier to use, so that’s why it’s recommended as well.

Happy swimming!
