Prepare for the dog days of an irradiated summer with this gorgeous retro-futuristic Patio of Tomorrow set!
If you’ve been keeping up with popular TV shows at the moment you’ve no doubt heard of the Fallout TV show, based off the iconic video game series by Black Isle Studios, Obsidian Entertainment, and (currently) Bethesda Game Studios. The series takes place in an alternate future where nuclear innovation was far more widespread, to the eventual detriment of mankind. It’s got a wonderful post-nuclear Americana feel to it, and the show is doing an incredible job of bringing this fictional world into reality.
Personally I’m a massive fan of the franchise, and I’m not the only one! Surely-Sims is a fantastic CC creator who specializes in retro kitsch that has several Fallout-themed sets in her CC catalog, and today she’s released the latest entry into the collection: the Patio of Tomorrow.
Welcome to The Patio Of Tomorrow!
This new Patio set features several pieces of outdoor furniture that look ripped straight from the more recent Fallout games, with 13 new items total for you to enjoy!
Furniture
We start out with the iconic patio chair as seen in Fallout 4 and Fallout 76, with an additional loveseat version and matching side table. The seating comes in 40 different swatches (20 colors each with 2 accent metal options) while the side table has 20 complementary hues.
What good are patio chairs without a table to match? There are 20 swatches each in a solid version and a version with a hole in the center for the matching umbrella. The umbrella comes in 20 colors as well, snaps to the table without needing to turn on MoveObjects, and has a really neat feature in Live mode: click the umbrella and you can choose to tilt it. It might also tilt on its own in inclement weather! You can see a video of the umbrella in “action” here.
Decorations
Check out these adorably tacky decorations! There’s a bag of charcoal (with a very familiar sim on it) in 5 swatches, two different flamingos that share 18 different textures, and a bottle of Nuka Cola cherry which is one of the wasteland’s most popular cola flavors.
Functional Objects
Grab a snack or a refreshing drink out of the base game compatible cooler, which Surely-Sims is hoping to update one day to dispense Nuka Cola and other custom foods. Toss some 200 year old hotdogs on the grill, or gather ’round the fire pit and share tales of the Mysterious Stranger or discuss the Dunwich Mystery. All three objects have 20 swatches.
And finally, it’s not a perfect American summer without some water activities! Let the little ones get in on the fun with a Toddler pool (Seasons Required) or skid away on the water slide (Backyard Stuff Required). Each object has 25 swatches with solid colors and some fun retro patterns, too.
More on SNOOTYSIMS: We celebrated Fallout’s 25th anniversary last year with a list of 25 of our favorite Fallout CC creations for the Sims 4. Several of Surely-Sims’ sets are in there; take a look!
The Final Countdown
When your sim is tired from crawling out through the fallout, they can sit back and relax with the Patio of Tomorrow! Have a seat and prop up your feet while you wait for the Radaway to kick in, grill up some RadStag or Brahmin steaks, or take a dip in a pool of irradiated water. Enjoy the warm weather before nuclear winter kicks in! Have a blast with this new CC, and we’ll see you in the wasteland. Happy simming!
