If you don’t know what to do in Sims and you find your household stuck in a boring daily routine, we’re going to help you out by giving you some ideas on fun things to do! First, we’ll get into how to make Sims gameplay more interesting and then we’ll brainstorm several normal activities you can have your Sims do in any of the residential worlds.

what to do in sims

If you still need more ideas on what to do in Sims, check out the links at the end of the article for other fun challenges to try to make your storylines way more interesting.

What to do in Sims to make the game more interesting

  • Check out this recent video of Sims player lilsimsie rebuilding a base game house! Follow her example and challenge yourself to improve the base game houses, cafes, parks, etc.
  • In fact, if you have The Sims 4: Dream Home Decorator Game Pack, become an Interior Decorator to be able to make specific changes to all the other Sims’ homes!
  • Try playing a pre-made Sims household and living their specific storyline! I also change their looks by editing them in Create A Sim but continue the storyline created for them by the developers!
  • Play any of the Scenarios created by the developers! Many of them are actually challenging.
  • Establish your own business and get involved in day-to-day operations! Aim to create and sustain a 4 and 5-star business while you’re at it.
  • Pursue any of the other careers that bring you to work with your Sim: become an actor, doctor, or scientist and you get to actively participate in their careers.

More ideas on what to do in Sims

  • If you pursue a scientific career, you’ll have the opportunity to go into Sims Outer Space!
  • Create a teen hangout spot in town, create teens in some households, then play as one of those teens. Start some drama and rivalry in the group and be a school misfit! Create the teen sitcom you’ve always dreamed of.
  • Make a serial dater and break up marriages! Hey, it’s Sims: all’s fair in love and war.
  • Live off the land and fish in Sulani and provide them with the bare minimum: shelter. You can live like a mythological legend in Sulani!
  • Do the classic Rags to Riches storyline: start from 0 simoleons with no shelter and work your way up!
  • Go to the Gallery and download different Community Lots created by other players so you have more places to own and go to. I downloaded a Target store and have a Sim who runs it now as a Retail Manager!
  • If you have The Sims 4: Spa Day, you can perfect your Wellness skill, teach yoga, and become a massage specialist at any of the pre-made spas or create your own yoga studio!

Storylines to Pursue to Make Sims 4 fun PT I

Become a mindful hermit living in Henford-On-Bagley or wherever! Your Sim can be a wellness master and traveling instructor who teaches yoga and meditation wherever they are and wherever the wind takes them!

Have your Sim achieve high celebrity status from being a streamer! Find out how your favorite Instagram Influencers do it and follow them on their road from e-fame to high fame.

Or you can do the exact opposite: play as one of the wealthy premade Sims and have them lose all of their wealth!

Then you can either bring them back to wealth from the ground up or keep them struggling and have them continue life now as part of the 99%.

Storylines to Pursue to Make Sims 4 fun PT II

Mix-and-match premade households, edit their premade storylines, and then play them! Go to Household Management and then select Transfer Between Households to start this epic plot twist.

You can also create some twisted scenarios like the popular 100-Baby Challenge but do it with a twist: have it be a single father abandoned with 100 babies instead!

Become the neighborhood cat lady. I think everyone in every part of the world knows at least one person who attracts a lot of cats to their home and no one knows how or why – it just is what it is.

Make your residential lot attract stray cats by choosing Cat Hangout, watch the furries take over your home, and let them!

That’s right: as the neighborhood cat lady, your home is always open!

There is no turning down any cat looking to sleep in your home, in your backyard, or in your front yard.

Make room on the couch because they’re going to make themselves right at home!

Skills to work on that will make gameplay more fun and interesting

Once your Sim completes their Handiness skill, they have the ability to uncover many secrets in the residential worlds like the mine in Oasis Springs.

The handiness skill is not something I usually pursue, but uncovering secret areas is enough motivation for me to start.

Did you know that once your Wellness skill is developed your Sim can levitate and then physically transport to specific areas instead of walking or jogging there?

You’ll need The Sims 4: Spa Day to get the Wellness skill.

Improve your Flower Arranging skill to level 9 and you’ll be able to use the rare Death Flower as a scent to age up Sims! It can kill elderly Sims, apparently!

Be like the evil queen with the apple in Snow White, except you hand out flowers!

Click here to learn how to get the Death Flower, which is a storyline excursion in itself!

The Flower Arranging Skill can be found in The Sims 4: Seasons Expansion Pack.

The Sims 4: Cats and Dogs Expansion Pack allows you to own your own vet clinic! Improve your veterinary skill in order to perform checkups and even surgery on sick animals!

This career gets challenging because the pets get really sick and mess up your clinic, which brings down your business ratings!

Now that you have a couple of ideas on how to change up your gameplay experience, here are other normal activities you do in the Sims 4 worlds for fun!

what to do in Sims

Willow Creek

Head over to Magnolia Blossom Park and look around because this is one of the areas where an ice skating rink or a roller skating rink will randomly appear! So keep your eyes peeled!

Yup, your Sim can learn how to skate! So join the other Sims and enjoy the ride! Don’t worry about falling. Dust yourself off and try again!

Oasis Springs

At Desert Bloom Park, walk to the back of the park until you reach the pond: if you haven’t already, try your hand at some fishing!

You can fish with other Sims and ask them to mentor you.

There is also an old mine entrance back there!

If any of your Sims complete their handiness skill, you will be able to break into it and enter a new secret area!

What to do in sims

Windenburg

Windenburg is a world created specifically for Sims to explore local clubs and activities!

You can get it in The Sims 4: Get Together Expansion Pack.

The nightclub is jumpin’ jumpin’ (Destiny’s Child fans leave us a comment!) at Discotheque Pan Europa!

Get your groove on the dancefloor and catch up with your neighbors or attempt to convince a celebrity to be your friend at the bar.

There’s also nothing like an invigorating midnight dive at the Bathe De Rill pool!

Swim some laps, back float, and then lounge around until the sun comes back up.

MyShuno

Become active in city life by visiting Myshuno, which is available as a residential world in The Sims 4: City Living Expansion Pack!

The Waterside Warble karaoke bar hosts karaoke competitions on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays at 8 PM.

If your Sim is getting good at singing, see if you’ll win some simoleons by getting in first place!

Across from the Waterside Warble, there is a basketball court too.

Get your Sims some physical activity by dribbling on the court and learning how to successfully shoot hoops.

Brindleton Bay

Club Calico has a piano to host a performance at any time, computers for public use, a bar, a regal lounge area, and a large pool outside!

This is a very posh and chill lounge, especially for your creatively-inclined Sims to put on a show and gain some fame points.

Granite Falls

The Sims 4: Outdoor Retreat Gamepack gives you access to Granite Falls, which is a camping retreat location!

Go to the Campground, bring a couple of your friends, and light a campfire!

Practice throwing horseshoes, toasting marshmallows, and telling stories!

Then get to the Granite Falls Forest and do some digging, collect insects, and collect samples from new wild plants, flowers, and mushrooms.

Watch out for bears though!

Selvadorada

At Selvadorada – a vacation world available in The Sims 4: Jungle Adventure Gamepack –  you’ll get to explore ancient ruins and navigate through jungles!

You’ll be able to explore more of the jungles and ancient temples and ruins by talking to the locals and asking them about Selvadorada mythology and exploration stories.

Take a swim in ancient ponds and lakes and dig up secret artifacts that you collect in pieces!

Players will also get scenarios where they can choose their Sim’s actions as they explore, and if they choose right they’ll find relics!

fun things to do in Sims 4 13 1

Sulani

fun things to do in Sims 4 5 1

Sulani is a tropical residential world in The Sims 4: Island Living.

It’s a getaway without actually being considered a vacation world!

At Key Point residential lot in Mua Pel’am, you’ll have access to the waterfall and the hidden cave.

Straight across from the mailbox, swim to the waterfall and play, find frogs, and shower nude if you want to!

Then, travel to the right of the waterfall entrance, staying close to the rocks and you’ll stumble upon the hidden cave entrance shrouded in vines.

Explore the cave and react to a scenario and you might find some treasure! Or come face-to-face with bats…

Ohan’Ali Beach in Ohan’Ali is where you’ll go to build some sandcastles, sunbathe in the sand or on a float, steer the local boat, go fishing on the boat, and play on the swings! Ask a friendly Sim to push you!

There’s also a local food stand nearby where you can get a quick traditional Sulani meal.

Improve your swimming skill so you can learn to deep dive and really get to explore the waters of Sulani.

Mt. Komorebi

fun things to do in Sims 4 8

The Sims 4: Snowy Escape Expansion Pack has provided Sims with many physical activities to partake in with this dynamic residential world and vacation spot.

Choose to take a vacation on your phone and travel to Mt. Komorebi.

You’ll be able to hike, rock climb, take meditative walks, and ski on the slopes.

Head to 5-1-2 Kiyomatsu in Yukimatsu Resort and check the bulletin board nearby for Mt. Komorebi conditions and hiking conditions.

Or not, you can also watch your Sims get wrecked – your choice!

A rock-climbing wall is right behind the board, so get your climbing skills on!

Then, walk past the board and find another where you’ll be to hike, take a meditative walk, jog along with the trial, and more.

The slopes are in front of the Yukimatsu Resort so walk forward from there to go on the bunny slopes.

Improve your skiing and snowboarding skills before going on the easy, intermediate, and expert slopes!

fun things to do in Sims 4 9

Local events will take place at Hanamigawa Koen Park, so when you get an on-screen notification, go check it out!

Conclusion

Now that you have plenty of ideas on what to do in Sims, keep up that motivation to change up your gameplay!
