Where did the popular Sims content curator go?
In 2014 a little blog called Lana CC Finds launched on Tumblr. Lana reblogged Custom Content for the Sims 2, Sims 3, and the Sims 4 from all categories, so there was content for pretty much any kind of Sims player. In addition to the range of games supported, another attractive feature of her blog was that she only featured free content that was easy to download without a lot of hoops to jump through. Sadly, Lana stopped reblogging content in April 2019 and it seems that nobody has heard from her since. The blog was removed entirely from Tumblr sometime between November 2020 and February 2021 based on The Wayback Machine records.
So, what happened to Lana?
The short answer: we don’t know what happened to Lana CC Finds. There are rumors that Lana left due to occurances in the Sims CC community, but she has never made an official statement to the matter.
References and Impersonations
There have been several blogs that have cropped up in the wake of Lana CC Finds’ disappearance that are an allusion to (or a straight-up impersonation of) the original, but as far as we can tell Lana is not associated with any of them.
Lana-CC-Finds
According to social media links, this website is owned by a person named Ryan Salvatore. One can assume that he chose the site name with the hopes of pulling in traffic from people searching for Lana CC Finds. The page has no obvious disclaimer that it’s not affiliated with the real Lana; in fact their Tumblr page explicitly says “Lana CC Finds is Back.” Contrary to Lana’s posting style, this blog gates CC links behind a countdown.
It seems that their plan to impersonate Lana didn’t fool discerning Sims players however, as the website hasn’t updated since April 2022.
Llama CC Finds
Although the blog’s name is clearly different from Lana’s it’s still an obvious allusion to her, however it’s the site address that’s most intriguing. The original Lana CC Finds, while titled as such, actually went by a different name: sssvitlanz. When you looked up the address on Tumblr this is the username that would result. Llama’s CC Finds uses this same username.
What does this mean? Well, there are 2 most obvious explanations:
- The blog username was taken by someone else after the original Lana CC Finds shut down, with the hopes that users would end up on the new site without realizing it’s hosted by a different person.
- This blog actually belongs to the real, original Lana who has chosen to remove any verification that it’s her in order to continue blogging in peace. What really sticks out is the fact that the blog also features CC from the Sims 2 and 3, which is uncommon.
I reached out to the owner of the blog to try and confirm their identity, but didn’t get any response from them. Unfortunately for now we can only speculate on who they actually are.
EllieSucksAtCCFinds
This website shouts out Lana in their banner but that’s where the similarities end. Until it went inactive in July 2020, it was a blog where you could find Maxis-match CC for the Sims 4, which is a far smaller scope than Lana’s CC Finds. As of the time of writing it’s still active and accessible, just no longer sharing new content. Though this page namedrops Lana they make no insinuations that they are affiliated with her.
In Conclusion
Sadly, nobody really knows what happened to Lana CC Finds. We don’t even know for sure if she left the community willingly, or if she still plays the Sims games on her own time. Her blog was the go-to resource for a lot of Sims CC users, going all the way back to the Sims 2. It’s possible she’s still out there, lurking in the community or posting under a different name, but until/unless she comes out to let us know she’s still around we can only speculate her whereabouts.
Lana, if you’re reading this, the community hopes you’re well. We miss you!
