It was recently announced that one of the final pieces of DLC for the Spring 2024 Sims 4 roadmap will be the Urban Homage Kit, a kit inspired by London street fashion from the 1980’s to the early aughts/noughties. This new Kit has been designed in collaboration with simmer Ebonix, who may sound familiar as she is also part of the recent Play In Color campaign.
What Is Urban Style?
Urban style & culture is a result of a variety of other styles melding together and is meant to represent the unique experience of living in a city. We saw some of this urban style in the City Living EP which brought us food from around the world, clothing with clear ethnic influences, and beautiful Buy/Build content that helped capture the feeling of different vibes converging.
Interestingly, urban clothing tends to lean towards bright colors, mixed textiles, and bold looks reminiscent of the hip-hop culture that came to prominence in the late 20th century. Building materials on the other hand usually lean more neutral, as urban design tends to pull a lot of inspiration from the stark industrial look that’s often seen in factories and other old buildings that typically populate cities. The nicest thing about urban style is that there aren’t many rigid rules, since the whole point of the culture is self-expression. You’ll find that the definition of an “urban” look may vary in different parts of the world, however.
Modders like Ebonix have long contributed to the Sims 4 community with their own urban-inspired CC and while we’re eager for the new Kit, if you want even more content for your sims, supplementing it with Urban CC is a great way to get there. Let’s take a look at some beautiful Urban CC you can deck your sims and their spaces in to really embody the vibe.
