Add some kitsch to your sims’ wardrobes with some wonderfully tacky CAS content!
The Sims 4 has so much content these days that it’s not difficult to style perfect looks for your sims, but even with almost 100 pieces of DLC at the time of this writing you might still be seeking out a specific look that the game has yet to provide. A majority of CAS content in the game is pretty stylish, although sloppy sims can appreciate the dirty/dingy swatches hiding in their closets.
What if you’re after something more…gauche? Whether your sims are living in the past, wearing what they want with reckless abandon, or just trying too hard to look cool, you might have a sim that appreciates a gaudier wardrobe. For characters like that, tacky CAS items could be the perfect pièce de résistance for their ultimate outfit.
Tacky CAS Pieces To Turn Heads
Before we get into this list of tacky CAS content let’s clarify what “tacky” means. In general terms you can think of something tacky as being an item or person who lacks style, looks cheap, or is something/one that stands out well above what is considered acceptable for the situation at hand. This doesn’t mean that tackiness is inherently bad though! There are lots of cases where a piece that might be considered tacky works perfectly such as a festival, a drag show, or convention.
We’re not poking fun at any of the items listed here or the players who want to use them. If you’re looking for tacky CAS pieces for your sims, check out the list!
Strangers In The Night
25 pieces of clothing & accessories inspired by vintage Las Vegas weddings, this high-quality collection suits a decades challenge play-style while also carrying that touch of kitsch that’s inherent in anything coming out of Las Vegas.
Losing your hair when you don’t want to be bald can be a frustrating, degrading experience. Thankfully, there are lots of options these days for those who want to prevent or reverse hair loss and sims can easily change their style in CAS with a few clicks!
This particular style is designed as a caricature of someone who uses a toupee to hide their hair loss but who doesn’t get a hairpiece that looks real, making the hair loss all the more obvious. It comes with a simple comb-over hairstyle along with 3 wigs (classified as a hat in CAS) that are meant to look like low-quality postiches.
A bold suit that carries an effortless style and woohoo appeal that would look perfect at a 1970’s party. As haute as this look can be, choosing the wrong colors/patterns can push it into gaudy territory.
It might be a hot take sharing these shoes, but this writer personally feels that this type of shoe is incredibly tacky. Ironically, I still own a pair anyway.
This is a really pretty hairstyle! We could see how it could be considered tacky though, depending on what a sim wears with it. It’s like a faux mullet.
This collection has everything you need to pull off the tacky beach wedding of your sims’ dreams! There are several bits of corny clothing, hair & accessories, pieces of furniture/appliances related to dining & drinking, and more.

We’re playing a little fast and loose with the theme for this one! At first glance this seems like a perfectly quaint sweater, which it is, but its origins are what makes it tacky…
“CC is a Luxury” was a phrase posted by a non-simmer who joined the community making CC skins with the sole purpose of perma-paywalling their content—they came from another gaming community where this was the norm. When they were informed that CC doesn’t work that way for The Sims 4 and that it’s required to be free (eventually anyway), they did not take it well and made this statement in response.
This sweater is a tongue-in-cheek jab at that person.
This clothing collection is styled after the stereotypical “American mobster” look often seen in US-centric television and film. The pieces can definitely be combined into some lovely, classy looks, but if the wearer goes too hard on pattern or texture mixing they can easily fall into “tacky” territory.

The tacky nature of these earrings are what make them so charming! Food-related accessories are usually a big hit for any look but with these appearing like realistic shrimp pieces, other sims might do a double-take when they see them dangling from your sim’s ears.
This is a wonderfully wild collection bursting with colors and patterns! It’s certainly not for everyone though, and would look terribly garish in certain circumstances.
Human faces are rarely symmetrical, but we still try to make them look that way because it’s more visually appealing to us. Eye makeup is the bane of many who aren’t skilled in symmetry and this eyeliner is a great real-world example. From subtle lines to dramatic cat eyes, your sims can mess up a range of liner designs and wear them out in public regardless of how tacky it looks!
For most people the time in their lives when they’re at their tackiest is during their Teen/Young Adult years. You’re still trying to find your personal style, while also wearing what you want and ignoring everybody else’s opinion on it. Emo/Scene style is a pop culture aesthetic that embraces things like colorfully dramatic hairstyles, heavy makeup, and punkish clothing. While it wasn’t a tacky look in its heyday, plenty of people can look back at themselves from that era and cringe at how tacky they were in retrospect.
Generally when someone is wearing an ankle monitor it’s because they’ve committed a crime which is pretty tacky in itself, but to wear one voluntarily as an accessory? Whole other level of tackiness.
We hope you enjoyed this list of terrific, tacky CAS custom content! If you’ve got a sim with a quirky sense of style and EA’s offerings aren’t cutting it, CC is here to fill that gap. What’s your favorite sim’s style? Do you have any characters that are perfectly suited to the tacky aesthetic? Let us know in the comments below! Until next time, happy simming!
