Figure Out if You Have the System Requirements to Run The Sims 4!

If you’re asking yourself whether you can run The Sims 4 on your Windows PC or Mac, here we will talk about all the system requirements you’ll need to meet. From your processor to your graphics card and memory, your machine must be powerful enough to run this game. And even though The Sims 4 is a title released in 2015, its system requirements are still demanding in the present day.

As with any game, The Sims 4 has evolved through its many expansion, game, and stuff packs, as well as regular maintenance patches. Anyone who has played it back then can tell you that the game was overall smoother. But that’s primarily because now we have way more things to play with. So, you’ll need to know what The Sims 4 wants from you before even deciding on installing it again!

And while the Playstation 4 and Xbox One simmers don’t have to worry about this at all, here are the system requirements you’ll need to fulfill if you want to run The Sims 4 without problems!

Do you know that you can play The Sims 4 in a first-person mode? Learn how to do it here!

The Sims 4 PC System Requirements

PC Minimum System Requirements

  • OS: 64 Bit Required. Windows 7 (SP1), Windows 8, Windows 8.1, or Windows 10
  • CPU: 1.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, AMD Athlon 64 Dual-Core 4000+ or equivalent (For computers using built-in graphics chipsets, the game requires 2.0 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 2.0 GHz AMD Turion 64 X2 TL-62 or equivalent)
  • RAM: At least 4 GB RAM
  • DISC DRIVE: DVD Rom Drive required for installation only
  • HARD DRIVE: At least 15 GB of free space with at least 1 GB additional space for custom content and saved games
  • VIDEO: 128 MB of Video RAM and support for Pixel Shader 3.0. Supported Video Cards: NVIDIA GeForce 6600 or better, ATI Radeon X1300 or better, Intel GMA X4500 or better
  • DIRECTX: DirectX 9.0,10 and 11 Compatible
  • INPUT: Keyboard and Mouse
  • ONLINE REQUIREMENTS: Internet connection required for product activation.

As you can see, the minimum system requirements for The Sims 4 are easy to meet. They match the basic power of the PCs in 2014 or 2015, so even if you have a fairly older system, you can still play the game! However, if you own many packs or mods, know that each additional download may slow you down and cause you severe FPS drops.

  • OS: 64 Bit Windows 7, 8, 8.1, or 10
  • PROCESSOR: Intel core i5 or faster, AMD Athlon X4
  • VIDEO CARD: NVIDIA GTX 650 or better
  • HARD DRIVE: 18 GB of Hard Drive space

And if you’re thinking about upgrading your PC to have better gameplay, these are the specs to consider buying. Most of these parts are way cheaper than they used to be back in the day. So, it’s very easy to run The Sims 4 in the recommended PC settings!

Your Sims 4 keeps crashing? These are the solutions!

The Sims 4 Mac System Requirements

Mac Minimum System Requirements

  • OS: Metal required. Mac OS® X 10.11 (El Capitan)
  • CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4GHz Processor or better
  • RAM: At least 4 GB RAM
  • HARD DRIVE: At least 15 GB of free space with at least 1 GB additional space for custom content and saved games
  • VIDEO: NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT, ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro or better. Video RAM of 256MB or better
  • INPUT: Keyboard and Mouse
  • ONLINE REQUIREMENTS: Internet connection required for product activation.

We have a similar case with the minimum requirements for the Mac as we did for the PC. The CPU, GPU, and RAM you see here are very easy to come across, so every gives it a shot. But, this isn’t the most optimal way of playing The Sims 4, since screen tearing and FPS drops are expected a lot.

  • OS: Mac OS® X 10.11 or later
  • PROCESSOR: Intel Core i5 or better
  • VIDEO CARD: NVIDIA GTX 650 or better
  • HARD DRIVE: 18 GB of Hard Drive space

And the recommended specs for the Mac are essentially the same as those for Windows PC. The only difference is the operative system, which doesn’t influence the game’s performance very much.
