Everything There is to Know About Cars in The Sims 4!
Cars have always been a topic of numerous debates within The Sims 4 community. Ever since the release of the game, players have been very outspoken about drivable cars. It’s simple – we simulate the real world in The Sims, so why can’t we operate cars too? Well, the developers have never been clear on this topic. And it’s been left to us, the simmers, to make the best out of the situation.
We know one thing for sure, right? That’s the fact that there are car models inside the game. And if cars exist between the game files, then we can definitely add them to TS4! Thanks to many brilliant simmers, we’ve found a way to use cars as decorations. And also, we can also download additional Sims 4 cars CC to have nearly every model from the real world. This isn’t precisely like driving a car, but at least we can boast about our possessions when we put a BMW in our yard, right?
So, in this post, we wanted to take a closer look into cars CC, mods and cheats about cars in The Sims 4. We will tell you how to unlock them, how to download additional ones, and what you can expect about driving them. Let’s go!
Cars in The Sims 4
How to Unlock Cars in the Game?
As we mentioned above, the cars you see passing around your neighborhood can be unlocked via the debug cheat. Debug simply means unlocking all hidden objects that are in the game, but you can’t access them through the regular gameplay. We’ve done an in-depth guide on this cheat and its effects, which you can check it here. We recommend you giving the guide a look if this is your first time using the cheat.
In short, to unlock the hidden cars in The Sims 4, you’ll need to use enable cheats first. And that’s done thanks to the testingcheats true cheatline. Visit this guide if you want to know more about testing cheats in The Sims 4 and why it’s a crucial step here as well!
Next, you want to use the actual debug cheat – bb.showliveeditobjects. And if that doesn’t work, you can try bb.ignoregameplayunlocksentitlement. This is supposed to remove all access limits for you in the game. And if you open the Sims 4 build mode, you’ll find the hidden cars ready to be used. In the end, you can just drag them and put them wherever you like!
How to Download Cars for the Game?
When it comes to manually adding cars in the game, they work like any other CC type. There are numerous places on the internet where you can find cars CC and mod for The Sims 4. Our favorite place to fish for car models, though, is TheSimsCatalog.
If you click on this link, you’ll be taken to a page where hundreds and hundreds of cars for The Sims 4 are showed. You can simply make your pick, download the file, and add it to your Mods folder. When you do that, the car will be usable as a decoration inside the game. Depending on your taste, you can make vintage or modernistic cars and garages combination in The Sims 4!
About the Car Mods?
And lastly, there hasn’t been a single cars mod for The Sims 4 that could really withstand the test of time. The most notable extensions of this caliber were Ownable Cars and Drivable Cars. When they first came out, the community was shocked by their inventiveness. Of course, the Sims drove the cars themselves. But, the mods still gave some great experiences.
We aren’t sure whether any new car mod is in development. If so, then it has to be the complete package, with full control of the vehicle given to the players. And if not, we might have to wait for Sims 5 instead.
For some time, the community has been wanting a Sims 4 cars expansion pack or DLC. The developers are pretty secretive on this topic, and we don’t know what their next addition to the game will be. We, the simmers, would love to see functional cars in the game. However, we’re going to have to wait and see if this feature ever makes it to the live game!
