Sims 4 Random Trait Generator – Which One Is The Best To Use?

Traits are one of the elements that define our Sims when we first create them. Sure the hairstyle and the outfit add a bit of character, but traits are essentially what determines how our Sims will act in the actual game. And we get to pick them! However, what happens when we don’t know which traits to pick? Well, we turn to a random trait generator for The Sims 4!

What’s a random trait generator?

It’s exactly what its name suggests – an algorithm that gives you a random set of traits each time you hit “Generate”. RTG is a cool way to experiment with the different traits in Sims. It’s helpful when you’re trying to create a new Sim, or you’re thinking about playing as a unique Sim.

Most commonly, a Sims 4 random trait generator helps us when we’re lazy. You see, sometimes we simply don’t know which traits we want our Sims to have. And unless you enjoy staring at the CAS menu for hours, you go on the internet and find yourself a trait generator.

But no matter whether you need inspiration or not, a random trait generator is a handy tool to get familiar with all the traits in the game and the different ways you can combine them. Many of the sites we’ll talk about below offer to randomize aspirations, careers, and hobbies, too, so you can have a clear idea of who your Sim is before you even launch the game!

So let’s examine some of the best random trait generators for The Sims 4 and figure out which you should use!

A List Of The Best Sims 4 Random Trait Generators

1. The Sims 4 Random Trait Generator – James Turner

James Turner is one of the most popular simmers on the internet. He creates funny and inspiring Sims 4 videos and uploads them on his YouTube channel. His website contains a random trait generator, among other things, and you should check it out.

This random trait generator works fantastically for any kind of Sim you want to create. All you need to do is pick the age of your Sim and then select which Sims 4 DLCs you don’t own. By doing this, you’ll eliminate the traits that come with those expansion or game packs.

In the end, simply hit “Generate” and you’ll get your combination of traits. You can generate an infinite amount of times, even with the same settings!

2. The Sims 4 Random Trait and Aspiration Generator – Create A Random Sim

The second RTG that we want to talk about is The Sims 4 Random Trait and Aspiration Generator – Create A Random Sim. This one works in a similar way to the James Turner one, but it has a bit more developed as a tool.

The first thing that you’ll notice is the ability to randomize traits for cats, dogs, lots, and households, as well as Sims of all ages. Secondly, you can move individual traits, which is useful for when you like all the traits in the mix, except one. And third, you can randomize aspirations, traits, and hobbies on top of traits.

So, go to Create A Random Sim if you want a complete feature!

3. Sims 4 Legacy Challenge – Random Trait Generator

The Sims 4 Legacy Random Trait Generator is a fantastic tool to use for planning out your children. It’s based on a very simple idea which you’ll understand right away.

The Legacy RTG requires you to add the traits of one parent first, then the traits of the second parent. In the end, you’ll need to add a preferred trait for your child. And once you click “Generate Child,” the site will tell you the child’s gender, traits, and adult aspiration!

This is a great tool to use if you already have adult Sims that you enjoy playing and planning to add some children. And rather than creating random kids, you can insert the characteristics of the parents to get a matching child!

4. The Sims 4 Random Trait Generator – Platinum Simmers

The Sims 4 Random Trait Generator – Platinum Simmers is by far the easiest RTG you can use on the internet. And that’s because you don’t have to insert anything in order to get a combination of cool traits. Simply click “Again!” to generate new traits for your Sims!

The only thing you can do here is to select the expansion packs which you want to include in the generation. For example, if you check the Cats and Dogs pack, then the traits from that DLC will also have the chance to appear in the mix.

5. Sims 4 Percentage Calculator

And lastly, we have Sims 4 Random Lot Traits – Percentage Calculator. This is another simple and straightforward tool with little to no settings about the random traits.

By clicking “randomize,” you get a list of traits that you can use for your lot. And it’s handy when you’re stuck finalizing your home, so give it a shot.

Additionally, you can find more similar tools on the same site, like a character or a build generator.

And that’s all you need to know about the random trait generators for The Sims 4. There are many of them on the internet, and you can use them any way you like. Some offer more settings, and some are pretty limited. But all random generators give you a set of traits that you can copy and paste into your game.

So try them out and tell us which one you personally prefer?
