Now that they can be created and shared, we’ve curated a list of amazing Gallery Tattoos you can download today!
Although the Businesses & Hobbies Expansion Pack brings a variety of new mechanics and concepts to The Sims 4 there is one aspect that many players would say is the best part of the entire EP, which is the overhauled tattoo system. Now, you can narrow down your sims’ tattoo placement options much more precisely than before, and if you have the expansion you also have the option of creating your own tattoos by hand which can be uploaded to the Gallery for other simmers to enjoy.
The DIY tattoo system works like the fur painting mechanics from Cats & Dogs and Werewolves allowing you to control the color(s) and opacity of your pieces with unlockable patterns and stencils for even more variety. While this method can be tricky to get the hang of if you’re not artistically inclined, there are some truly talented people out there who have made truly incredible Gallery tattoos.
One of the great things about Gallery tattoos is that they don’t count as custom content. They’re available to all players who have the B&H expansion pack and won’t get tagged as “modded” if they’re shared individually or as part of a sim that’s been uploaded to the Gallery. This means that yes, even console players can download and use them!
Gallery Tattoos For Every Kind Of Sim
We’ve curated a list of over 100 Gallery tattoos you can download and enjoy right now! There’s everything from delicate botanicals to medieval imagery to creepy artwork to sims references and so much more, and some of the pieces are part of a larger project like a sleeve or full-body tattoo.
Important Things To Know About Gallery Tattoos
Before you start downloading these Gallery tattoos there are a few things you should keep in mind:
Although they can be downloaded by anybody, you will not be able to use these custom tattoos if you don’t have the Businesses & Hobbies EP.
Tattoos will look different on different sims depending on their body frame, body size, skin tone, and more. Custom body presets and skins may also affect how Gallery tattoos will look on your sim(s).
EA’s Gallery images aren’t great, we know. We tried to get the best image for each tattoo but some of them aren’t the easiest to see.
Some simmers have been trying to pass off CC tattoos as Gallery pieces; these will not show up properly in your game. We’ve done our best to vet tattoos to make sure they are legitimate Gallery pieces but if you find one on our list that we missed, please let us know!
If you want to explore the Gallery on your own for more tattoos, be advised that there isn’t really an effective censoring system in place right now so you may run into profanity or NSFW content.
Now, let’s look at some tattoos!
Collar Bone Tattoo
A simple tattoo of three Simlish words in a thick handwriting style. It can mean anything you want it to mean!
This back tattoo has a black bar down the spine with Simlish characters in blue stacked down it. On either side of the bar is a series of shrinking lines made of a pattern of spots and bars with a small plumbob on the outside; all together the shapes lay out in a diamond shape.
A large back piece in shades of black, white, and pink. In the center is a woman’s face with pale skin and long hair. Below her is a rib cage in black. She has pink flowers in her hair and is surrounded by white flowers and stars and there’s a faint tribal design in the background.
Simple line tattoo on the left shoulder of a cat’s face. The ears are simple carats (^), the eyes are a colon (:), the mouth is number three (3), and there are three short lines on either side to make the whiskers.
Outer left leg tattoo of a colorful figure, the upper half is made of a fish in shades of green, blue, and pink while the lower half is a pair of sexy human legs in fishnet stockings.
Romantic moth drawing in the center of the torso, its wings spreading under the bust to the nipples. A small flower rises over the moth, up the sternum stopping halfway up.
Chest/neck tattoo with spiderwebs over the right shoulder and neck, with an assortment of leaves and two moths caught upon it, spreading over to the left shoulder.
This back tattoo consists of a series of lines in various lengths spanning the length of the spine. On the right side of the back is a large Grecian statue head under a column of Morse code-esque dots. The left side of the back has half a butterfly as bisected by the spine lines, with leafy branches of varying sizes surrounding it. The tattoo is crowned by a four-tipped star on the back of the neck.
Black upper back tattoo in a watercolor art style of butterfly-like wings with stars and ink blots above & behind them. Each wing spans from the shoulder blade to the mid-back.
An offset upper back tattoo with a flying butterfly, haloed in a circle of dots. A crescent moon and cluster of stars sit at the upper left of the circle with another star at the lower left of the circle.
A large back tattoo of a sun with various lines and curves coming from it, in a style reminiscent of celestial cartography. The tattoo is done entirely in white ink.
There’s an optional 2nd part to this piece for the lower back; check the creator’s profile (you may need to uncheck “Maxis Curated” in the Advanced menu).
The top half of a colorful left arm sleeve featuring a space motif. There are two orange planets, one with rings, a blue planet with two sets of rings, and an asteroid over a bed of blues, greens, and purples scattered with stars. Check the creator’s profile for the lower half of this piece (you may need to uncheck “Maxis Curated” in the Advanced menu).
A chest tattoo showing the various phases of the moon. It stretches across the collarbone, flanked on both sides by a small branch of leaves. The centerpiece, a full moon, has several threads of stars dangling from it and there’s a small sparkling plumbob below on the sternum.
Left thigh tattoo featuring a large crescent moon. The art style has a kinetic energy that almost looks like it was made by tossing the ink onto the skin.
The top half of a full back tattoo, consisting of a sword spanning the length of the spine. Several sprigs of leaves and large flowers rain down over and around the sword. Check the creator’s profile for the lower half of this piece (you may need to uncheck “Maxis Curated” in the Advanced menu).
A shoulder to shoulder back tattoo of a large flying dragon as viewed from above. Its wings spread across the entire back and the tail has a fanned tip that reminds us of Toothless from the animated film “How To Train Your Dragon.”
A hand-sketched upper right arm tattoo of a roaring dragon. A small portion of the tattoo spills on to the chest as its own separate piece; check the creator’s profile for that piece (you may need to uncheck “Maxis Curated” in the Advanced menu).
The top half of a full back tattoo. This tattoo has a winged statue head, the figure looking off into the distance with a teary eye, surrounded in a spotted crown with stars. Check the creator’s profile for the lower half of this piece (you may need to uncheck “Maxis Curated” in the Advanced menu).
Back tattoo of a woman holding a staff in her right hand, while her left hand holds a bird that she appears to be communicating with. She stands before a crescent moon in front of various trees and bushes. The artwork is done in a crude sketch style.
Tattoo spanning the entire length of the left leg and foot. It features an assortment of simple monochromatic flowers, petals, and leaves done with thick line work.
A simple floral tattoo on the left arm. It features a three-petaled flower on a stem of four leaves, with small decorative dots along the branch base and flower head.
A monochrome tattoo stretching over the top 3/4 of the right arm featuring a simple wrapped motif of basic branches and leaves. Two differently-sized paw prints and a heart are nestled among the leaves near the elbow and small twinkling stars are spread along the piece.
A large back tattoo of a black circle overlaid with the outline of two lotuses on the left. The lotuses are outlined in black but revert to negative space on the parts of the tattoo that overlay the circle, creating an inverted appearance.
Two stems of ovate-shaped leaves starting below the navel and ending on the hip area. The tattoo is not quite symmetrical, but laid out in a mirrored fashion.
Thick blackwork chest/rib tattoo of budding branches. One branch starts at the left shoulder and reaches across the chest, and a second branch starts on the right rib and crosses over to the sternum.
Did you know that strawberries grow from the centerpieces of flowers? This piece is a left side chest/shoulder tattoo with a bunch of white strawberry flowers and red ripening strawberries in a style similar to 1980’s American Cel Animation.
A single green stem stretching the length of the right leg, with several colorful flowers blooming from it. The flowers look like pansies in light/pastel shades of orange, yellow, blue, and violet. It reminds us of the flowers from the 1951 animated Alice In Wonderland film!
Chest tattoo featuring a quartet of flowers in shades of dark red, umber, and dusty pink flanked by soft green leaves. As the title suggests, these colors were chosen to complement darker skin tones.
Symmetrical back tattoo in traditional style with branches and leaves branching out from the spine, topped with an orange-red flower surrounded in matching buds.
A tattoo of crimson flowers and green leaves branching from the right thigh and stopping on the mid-back. This piece can be expanded on with additional pieces; check the creator’s profile for the other parts (you may need to uncheck “Maxis Curated” in the Advanced menu).
Stomach and hip tattoo of a blue hummingbird feeding from deep red flowers. The tattoo is illustrated in the art style of North American Indigenous Peoples.
Top half of a two part black out tattoo on the right arm featuring a motif of stars, horizontal and vertical bands, all crowned with a plumbob on the shoulder. Check the creator’s profile for the bottom half of this tattoo (you may need to uncheck “Maxis Curated” in the Advanced menu).
Bib/collar style blackout tattoo with star and leaf designs that looks to be loosely inspired by Moroccan art styles. This tattoo appears to be meant for femme frames, as there seems to be some tearing along the shoulders on the masc preview.
One portion of a full body tattoo, this part being on the upper back. A large red koi fish leaps from Japanese-style ocean waves with part of a red dragon’s body seen below the clouds near the koi. Check the creator’s profile for the other parts of this tattoo (you may need to uncheck “Maxis Curated” in the Advanced menu).
Left lower back tattoo of a sea turtle in a traditional islander art style; if you have Island Living this piece fits up against the Sulani leg sleeve tattoo!
Upper chest tattoo in an art style reminiscent of a pirate’s treasure map. The tattoo contains a large, crude skull in the center on a background of flowers that span from shoulder to shoulder.
A large blackwork belly tattoo featuring a skull surrounded by sketched flowers. Opposite the skull is a raccoon that wraps around the side slightly, and the two are sword fighting.
A large black spider on the left hip. Between its front legs the spider has strung a pink web with a heart woven into it and there are also smaller pink star accents on and around the creature.
A large black hairy spider camping out on the left shoulder blade and left chest area. Check the creator’s profile for the other parts of the tattoo (you may need to uncheck “Maxis Curated” in the Advanced menu) which are just the tips of some of the legs so they properly wrap around the sim.
The upper part of a large black spider tattoo that spreads over the entire mid-lower back with a small spiderweb draped over the back of the neck. Check the creator’s profile for the second part of this tattoo (you may need to uncheck “Maxis Curated” in the Advanced menu).
A black back tattoo of an eye from which several gnarled branch or claw like appendages expand outward, making it look like a cross between an ancient tree and a cursed creature.
While it’s not something we’re going to cover in this post, you can find a selection of non-tattoo “tattoos” in the Gallery that you might also be interested in. These include things such as scars, freckles, hairlines, and even faux-piercings! Should we do a dedicated post about these options? If you think so, comment and let us know!
Final Thoughts
Going through this list of incredible Gallery CC, I think my favorite part is that we’re getting to see the talents of so many simmers who otherwise might have never entered the creative space regarding The Sims 4. You don’t need any special programs or fancy software to make your own custom tattoos, and with enough patience and practice anybody can make one worth sharing to the Gallery!
