Wondering what Moola is all about? The Sims 4 Marketplace FAQ spills the tea on the new currency, where to access the Marketplace, and how Maker Packs and Kits will change PC gameplay. Read on below to learn everything you need to know!

SNOOTYSIMS Moola

Today we’re breaking down The Sims 4 Marketplace FAQ, which just dropped official clarification from the team at EA via The Sims 4 Discord. After the initial Marketplace & Makers Program Q&A was announced (where the community submitted questions on Marketplace, Maker Packs, and Moola), Community Managers Mindy and Lord Bransly took to the marketplace-faq channel to explain exactly how all of this is going to work.

If you’ve been curious about Marketplace details, what Maker Packs are, and how the new currency Moola factors into it all, this is your official guide. Let’s get into it!

What The Sims 4 Marketplace FAQ Actually Is

In case you missed it, this Marketplace FAQ channel was created inside The Sims 4 Official Discord as the go-to hub for Marketplace info. Lord Bransly shared that this is now the place to learn what the Marketplace is, how it functions, and how it fits into your gameplay.

They’ll keep updating this channel regularly as new questions come in, so it’s not just a one-time post. It’s literally going to grow alongside the Marketplace itself.

This follows the community Q&A thread announced earlier in the Marketplace & Maker Program Questions channel, where Simmers submitted thoughtful questions directly to the team. Answers from that session are being moved into this FAQ so everyone can benefit from the clarity.

How the Marketplace Works

So what is The Sims 4 Marketplace? According to the Marketplace FAQ, it’s essentially the upgraded in-game store where you can browse and buy content like Kits, Maker Packs, Expansion Packs, Game Packs, and Stuff Packs all without leaving the game.

Right now the Marketplace is available on PC only, with consoles joining later this year. You open it directly from the Main Menu with the Marketplace button, or mid-game with the shopping cart icon in the UI.

This aligns with everything we covered in yesterday’s The Sims 4 Marketplace, but now we have official answers about exactly how it will operate rather than just features and expectations.

Maker Packs Explained

One of the biggest parts of the FAQ covers Maker Packs, which are community-created content packs exclusive to the Marketplace.

These are created by official Sims community creators (called “Makers”). They contain between three and fifty items and focus on either Build/Buy content or Create a Sim content. Everything in a Maker Pack is quality approved by The Sims team, meaning it’s safe, vetted, and malware-free.

That’s a huge deal for players who have been asking for a safe way to support community creators while avoiding sketchy downloads.

Moola Is The New Virtual Currency

With the Marketplace comes Moola, The Sims 4’s new virtual currency:

Maker Packs and Kits can only be purchased with Moola.

PC players will start seeing Kits available exclusively through the Marketplace for Moola starting March 17, 2026. Console players will still be able to use their platform stores until the Marketplace goes live for consoles.

Expansion Packs, Game Packs, and Stuff Packs are a bit different. They can be purchased on the Marketplace or on your favorite platform store, but those still use real-world money.

This was one of the biggest questions from the community Q&A linked in the Marketplace & Maker Program Questions channel, so having concrete answers in the Marketplace FAQ is super helpful.

Better Downloads and No Game Restarts

Something that didn’t get a ton of attention before is how the Marketplace affects how content downloads:

Maker Packs and Kits can now be downloaded on demand and will not require a game restart to use. That’s a quality-of-life improvement that a lot of players have wanted for ages.

It also ties back neatly to the earlier Marketplace FAQ answers from the Marketplace & Maker Program Q&A, where players were unsure how Marketplace content would be integrated into their game libraries.

Important Marketplace Details

There are a few restrictions worth pointing out from the official Marketplace FAQ:

  • You must be online to access and use the Marketplace.
  • Offline play still works, but only your already-downloaded Collection is available when offline.
  • Players under age may need parental spending permissions on their EA account to purchase Moola.

This FAQ is smartly designed to anticipate questions that came up earlier in the Discord Q&A and roll them into a more permanent reference.

Final Thoughts

The The Sims 4 Marketplace FAQ ties together everything we’ve been hearing from the Marketplace Q&A thread and turns it into a more permanent home for clarity on this big new feature.

If you are a PC player, mark March 17, 2026 on your calendar because that is when Kits officially transition to Moola-only purchases in the Marketplace. And if you are on console, your turn is coming soon.
