The Sims 4 Marketplace Is Officially Coming to The Sims 4

The Sims 4 Marketplace is officially on the way, and this might be one of the biggest changes we have seen for custom content in years. EA has announced a brand new in game storefront alongside something called The Sims Maker Program, and it is all about supporting creators in a whole new way.

If you love CC, build mode shopping, and discovering new creators, this is going to be huge.

Starting March 17, 2026, PC and Mac players will see The Sims 4 Marketplace launch directly inside the game. Console players on PlayStation and Xbox will get access in the months following as part of a phased rollout.

What Is The Sims 4 Marketplace?

The Sims 4 Marketplace is a brand new in game storefront built directly into The Sims 4. It is where players will be able to discover and purchase Maker Packs created by approved community creators, along with Expansion Packs, Game Packs, Stuff Packs, and Kits made by The Sims team.

Everything is integrated directly into the game. That means smoother discovery, curated collections, and no worrying about compatibility issues for Marketplace content.

For the first time ever, console players will also be able to access official custom content directly in game. That alone is a massive shift for the community.

Introducing The Sims Maker Program

At the heart of The Sims 4 Marketplace is The Sims Maker Program.

This new initiative allows custom content creators to apply and, if accepted, officially publish their creations inside the Marketplace as Maker Packs. These packs can include Create a Sim items, Build Buy objects, or themed collections ranging from 3 to 50 assets.

Creators maintain creative ownership of their work. They choose how their content is packaged and priced within Marketplace guidelines. Every Maker Pack is reviewed for safety and compatibility, following The Sims Positive Play Charter.

Applications for the Maker Program open March 5, 2026. Creators must meet specific requirements, including being at least 18 years old and passing a technical evaluation.

This feels like a natural evolution after Creator Kits and past collaborations, but now it is fully built into the core experience of the game.

Moola: The New Virtual Currency

To support this new system, The Sims is introducing a virtual currency called Moola.

Moola will be used to purchase Maker Packs and Kits inside The Sims 4 Marketplace. Players can buy Moola through their platform store, then spend it directly in game. Expansion Packs, Game Packs, and Stuff Packs will still be purchased with standard currency through your platform marketplace.

Makers will earn approximately 30 percent of the Moola spent on their packs. The Sims team is covering platform fees, taxes, server costs, and localization into 18 languages.

There are no plans for subscriptions, battle passes, or required microtransactions. The base game will continue to receive free updates, and the Gallery remains unchanged.

What Happens to Kits?

When The Sims 4 Marketplace launches on PC and Mac on March 17, Kits will move exclusively into the in game Marketplace and be purchased using Moola.

Any Kits you already own will remain in your library. Console players will see this change once the Marketplace arrives on their platform.

According to EA, this move helps prevent technical and storage limitations while allowing them to continue releasing new content.

More Choice, More Creators, More Community

The Sims has always thrived because of its community, and this update leans heavily into that idea. Instead of separating official content and custom content, The Sims 4 Marketplace creates a structured, moderated, and officially supported space for creators to share their work with players across PC, Mac, PlayStation, and Xbox.

Free custom content and mods are not going anywhere. Creators can still share free or early access content outside of the Marketplace under the existing mod policy. The Gallery will also continue as usual.

This is about adding options, not replacing what we already have.

Final Thoughts

The Sims 4 Marketplace feels like a major turning point for the franchise. Official custom content built into the game. Console access to creator made items. A structured way for creators to earn directly from their work.

March 17, 2026 is the date to mark on your calendar if you play on PC or Mac. If you are on console, stay tuned because your turn is coming soon.

We will definitely be watching how this rolls out and what the first Maker Packs look like. This could completely reshape how we shop, build, and customize our Sims in the years ahead.
