About Building Underwater Houses in Sims 4
Building houses is probably the biggest selling point of The Sims 4. And it’s not without reason! We all like sitting down in front of computers and building a brand new home for our Sims. This is where our imagination and our skill clash together and create gorgeous and beautiful structures. However, have your Sims ever lived in an underwater house in Sims 4?
Thought so. One thing that separates underwater houses from regular homes, besides the fact that they’re underwater, is the difficulty of building them. Sure, everyone can do it. But, not everyone can do it right.
And so, in this post, I want to give you a complete tutorial for building an underwater house in Sims 4. I’ll go over everything you need to know to begin with, so you can create yourself a beautiful underwater home for your Sim.
So, let’s jump right into it!

How to Build an Underwater House in Sims 4?
How to make an underwater house in Sims 4
The general idea of building an underwater house is to actually build it underground on a regular lot. You then want to cover the surface of the lot with a large pool of water, preferably with some decorations (rocks, trees). This creates the illusion of having an underwater house in Sims 4.
If you take a look at all underwater houses on the internet, you can spot this similarity – they’re all built underground and covered with pools. But why is this the case? Why is there no underwater house actually placed underwater?
Because even if you want to make an underwater house in Sulani, you can’t build on or under the sea. Sims 4 has strict rules when it comes to building, and you can never create anything outside of a lot. Each lot offers you a place to build, and every lot is pre-determined by the Sims 4 developers.
So, no matter if you want to build an underwater house yourself or get one from the internet, you’ll still need to cover it with a pond. This isn’t that bad since decorations can really elevate the look of these underwater homes. With the right rocks, trees, and shrubs, you can make your underwater house look natural and unique.

Is There an Underwater House Mod for Sims 4?
There is no underwater house mod for Sims 4. Since the game’s start, no one has done anything to really improve how we build or play in an underwater home. This is mostly just a house that happens to look like it’s built underwater. It’s also not specific to any Sims 4 pack, so you don’t have to buy Island Living just to have it.
Do You Need CC for an Underwater House?
You can definitely build or download an underwater house with no CC. Custom content can be a great way to make a one-of-a-kind look with your build, but it’s isn’t a must. However, I definitely recommend you with different CC, just so you find the perfect look for you.

Where to Download Underwater Houses From?
When it comes to downloading premade underwater houses, you have many options. You can search The Sims Resource, ModTheSims, as well as the official Sims 4 Gallery for interesting builds. However, here are my top 3 choices for an underwater house in Sims 4 to download.
- Cute&Warm Underwater House (No CC)
- Underwater House (used in the YouTube video above)
- Atlantis Underwater House
Feel free to search for more underwater houses and find the right one for you!
Conclusion
As you can see, building an underwater home in TS4 isn’t that complicated. You might struggle the first time around, but once you complete an underwater build, you’ll realize how easy it actually is. As long as you’re building underground and covering the surface with pools, you’re going to be alright.
But if you’re feeling lazy, then definitely download one of the 3 underwater houses I mentioned above! Good luck!
