The SwingSet Overhaul Mod by Meraki is giving one of The Sims 4’s classic playground activities a seriously fun upgrade. Instead of simply watching your Sims swing, this mod adds new ways for Sims of different ages to interact with swings and makes the activity feel much more useful for everyday gameplay.

What started as a small experiment for Meraki to learn more about custom postures and Blender turned into a full mod release. It also marks Meraki’s first mod that uses a script, making this a pretty exciting addition for players who enjoy small gameplay improvements that add more personality to their Sims.

Sims Can Sit and Swing While Doing Other Activities

One of the biggest changes in the SwingSet Overhaul Mod is the ability to directly tell your Sim to sit on the swing. Once they’re swinging, they can continue doing activities that Sims would normally be able to do while seated, including talking, eating, reading, and more.

This makes the swing feel much more like an actual place where Sims can hang out rather than an interaction they use for a short activity before immediately moving on. Teens through elders also get custom idle animations while using the swing, adding a little extra life to the interaction.

Kids Can Stand and Swing

Kids get their own new interaction called Stand and Swing, giving them another way to enjoy the playground equipment. The interaction increases their Fun need and lasts for the same amount of time as the original swing interaction.

There’s also a gameplay benefit for skill-building. While kids are using Stand and Swing, they’ll gain Motor skill, making this a cute little activity for family gameplay that also gives your child Sims something productive to do while they’re having fun.

Toddlers Can Finally Use the Swing Too

The swing isn’t just for older Sims anymore. Toddlers can also join in with a new interaction called Tummy Swing, which lets them use the swing for the same amount of time as the regular swing interaction.

Tummy Swing also increases the toddler’s Fun need, but there is one requirement to keep in mind. Toddlers need Movement Skill Level 2 before they can use the interaction, giving families another reason to keep those little Sims active.

Works With CC Swing Sets Too

Meraki also confirmed that the mod should work with any CC swing set, which is great news if you’ve already built a custom playground or backyard using custom content. There’s no need to stick with one particular swing set just to use the new interactions.

The creator has also included an optional Base Game swing set file for players who don’t already have a swing in their game. This file is optional, so players who already have a suitable swing can simply use the mod files themselves.

SwingSet Overhaul Mod Requirements and Installation

Before installing the SwingSet Overhaul Mod, you’ll need XML Injector, which Meraki lists as a required dependency. The download includes a .package file and a .ts4script file, along with the optional Base Game swing set package.

Installation is straightforward. The files need to be placed in your Sims 4 Mods folder, but the .ts4script file must be no more than one subfolder deep inside the Mods folder. As always with script mods, it’s worth checking your game settings after updates and keeping the mod updated if a future patch causes compatibility issues.
