If your Sims regularly have a ridiculous pile of moodlets, the Refreshed Moodlet Panel Mod might be exactly the UI upgrade you have been waiting for. Created by tyjokr, this new mod gives the moodlet panel a cleaner, more modern design while making all those buffs much easier to manage.

The mod is currently available through Patreon Early Access and supports all languages. According to tyjokr, it also has moderate patch resilience, making it an interesting option for Simmers who want a more polished way to keep track of their Sims’ moods.

A Cleaner and More Modern Moodlet Panel

The biggest change is immediately noticeable. Moodlets now appear as softly shaded tiles using the original color associated with their mood, complete with subtle rims and shadows. Their icons also inherit the mood’s color, giving the entire panel a more cohesive and vibrant appearance.

The visual effects have also been refreshed. Stronger moodlets receive more contrast in their gradients, while fine moodlets become more translucent so they can fade into the background. The old godray effect for +3 positive moodlets has been replaced with a soft halo, while +3 negative moodlets now have a darker, moodier halo instead of the previous squiggly effect.

Refreshed Moodlet Panel Mod Groups Similar Moodlets Together

One of the most useful changes is the new mood grouping system. Instead of having every moodlet take up its own space, moodlets belonging to the same mood can stack behind a primary tile with a count badge.

Clicking a stacked moodlet opens that particular mood group in a separate row above the main strip. Clicking it again closes the group, giving you a much cleaner way to browse through multiple moodlets without having the entire UI take over your screen.

This should be especially handy for Sims with lots of buffs from expansions, custom content, and gameplay mods. Rather than scrolling through a crowded row and trying to find a specific moodlet, you can see which mood groups have multiple entries at a glance.

Resize the Moodlet Strip Your Way

The Refreshed Moodlet Panel also gives you more control over how much of the moodlet strip is visible. You can hold and drag a primary moodlet left or right to change the number of visible slots between four, five, six, or seven.

Dragging left gives you more slots with smaller tiles, while dragging right reduces the number of slots and makes the tiles larger. There is even one additional step beyond four slots that activates a current-mood-only mode, similar to how the base game panel displays relevant moodlets. Your chosen setting is remembered between saves.

The Full Moodlet Panel Can Finally Stay Open

Another neat quality-of-life change is how the full moodlet panel behaves. Clicking the overflow indicator opens the complete panel, but instead of immediately closing again, it stays open until you click an overflow moodlet.

This makes it much easier to actually inspect your Sim’s current buffs, especially when you are playing a household where moodlets are constantly being added and removed. It is a small change, but one that could make everyday gameplay feel considerably less fiddly.

Compatibility and Mod Conflicts

According to tyjokr, the Refreshed Moodlet Panel is compatible with UI Cheats Extension, Better Simology Panel, and the Screen Reader mod. It is also compatible with Meaningful Stories and custom moods, so Simmers using custom mood systems should still be able to enjoy the redesigned panel.

There is one important compatibility warning, though. The mod conflicts with januksenkosketus’ Keep Buff/Moodlet Panel Always Open and other mods that override the SimHub UI. Make sure you check your existing UI mods before installing so you do not end up with conflicting changes to the same part of the game.

Final Thoughts

The Refreshed Moodlet Panel Mod looks like a really nice quality-of-life upgrade for Simmers who are tired of digging through an endless wall of moodlets. The combination of grouped buffs, adjustable slots, updated visuals, and a full panel that stays open makes the everyday UI feel much more manageable.

If you love giving your Sims a ton of different experiences, traits, buffs, and custom moods, this is definitely one to keep an eye on.
