There is a new Vitiligo Update introduced in the most recent Delivery Express of The Sims 4. In this article, you can read about how to use this new skin feature for your Sims!

The New Sims Delivery Express Is Here
Now and then, The Sims 4 releases free content to everyone through their Sims Delivery Express (SDX) feature. Last February 13, 2024, the team dropped its most recent SDX content—the Vitiligo update for Create-A-Sim (CAS). This update consists of a new skin feature for your Sims, which can be used in the same way as Birthmarks, Scars, Freckles, and Stretch Marks.

Vitiligo is a common autoimmune disorder that occurs in many people around the globe. People who have this condition lose patches of color in their skin, accumulating random white spots on their faces and bodies. With vitiligo being pretty common, incorporating this skin feature in The Sims 4 is one way of bringing more inclusivity and representation to the game.
Developing the Vitiligo Update

The Sims Team conducted their research and collaborated with a Concept Artist and an Art Director to be able to capture an authentic visual depiction of Vitiligo in the game. They then experimented with different Sims skin tones that are representative of all ethnicities, to be able to render realistic patches and patterns of the condition. In the end, they were able to produce over 61 variants of Vitiligo!
The Sims 4’s Partnership With Winnie Harlow

Winnie Harlow is a Canadian supermodel and beauty personality who is also known as a spokesperson for Vitiligo. She has had the skin condition since she was 4 years old and has learned to flaunt her patches beautifully. As an avid player of The Sims herself, The Sims Team chose to partner up with her in launching the Vitiligo skin feature for the game. For the said collab, Winnie created her Sims self and her dream home in The Sims 4, as seen in this Winnie Harlow x The Sims 4 video.
Using The Vitiligo Update In the Game

Sims from Infants to Elders, can have Vitiligo. The patches on the skin may change over time, allowing for a more genuine portrayal of the autoimmune disorder. To let your Sims have Vitiligo, simply do the following:
- Head over to Create-A-Sim mode.
- Click on your preferred Sim to edit their skin.
- Find the Vitiligo patches under the Skin Details category.
- You can choose patches available for the face and the body (upper torso, arms, legs, lower torso).
- You can choose little patterns or full ones.
Other Things to Know About the Vitiligo Update

There are other things to know about using the Vitiligo update. You can layer it on your Sims with other Face and Body Skin Details (except for Birthmarks) and use it with Tattoos and Body Hair. You cannot choose the color of your Sim’s vitiligo as it automatically gets adjusted according to their current skin tone. However, you may freely modify the Vitiligo patterns anytime on your Sims. It’s also important to know that the Vitiligo update will not affect your Sims gameplay in any way.
How To Get The Vitiligo Update

When you open The Sims 4, you will be able to see the Vitiligo Update on your game’s dashboard. You will see it on the middle panel, with the following details: “Vitiligo Is Here. Customize your Sims with new skin details in this base game update”. If this update does not automatically appear, head over to your Game Options, and select Sims Delivery. Click “Check for New Content”, then restart your game to receive the update.
