This brand-new interaction lets couples cuddle together while watching television, making everyday evenings at home feel much more natural and immersive.
The mod is designed to fit seamlessly into normal gameplay. Instead of replacing existing interactions, it introduces a new romantic option that feels like it could have been part of the base game all along.
Cuddle While Watching TV Mod Brings Everyday Romance to Your Sims
The new interaction, “Cuddle While Watching TV,” becomes available whenever two Sims are already sitting close together and both are watching TV. Once the conditions are met, players can find the interaction under the Romance category and let their Sims settle in for a cozy viewing session together.
The interaction behaves similarly to the game’s built-in “Cuddle While Watching Movie” and “Snuggle” interactions. It includes similar autonomy, relationship requirements, and romantic outcomes, making it blend naturally with existing gameplay instead of feeling like a standalone animation.
Natural Animations With Emotional Expressions
One of the nicest touches is that Sims continue showing facial expressions based on whatever emotion they’re currently feeling. Whether they’re Flirty, Happy, Playful, or even Sad, their expressions change naturally throughout the interaction, helping the cuddle feel more alive instead of looking like a static animation.
The interaction lasts approximately 90 to 120 in-game minutes, making it long enough to enjoy a television program or movie together without feeling too short.
How the Animation Works
By default, the animation changes depending on the active Sim’s gender. If the actor is a female Sim, she will be the one being cuddled. If the actor is a male Sim, he becomes the Sim doing the cuddling.
Players who prefer different animation roles can pair this release with one of simkatu’s other mods that changes the default behavior, giving a little more flexibility depending on how they like to tell their Sims’ stories.
Things to Know Before Using the Mod
There are a few limitations that players should keep in mind. The biggest one is that Sims do not maintain a true visual focus on the television during the cuddle animation. Instead of constantly looking toward the TV, they’ll naturally focus more on each other.
Because of this, simkatu recommends placing the television directly in front of the sofa so the animation looks as natural as possible. According to the creator, the original movie cuddle interaction already relies mostly on head movement, and creating a convincing TV focus with a much closer cuddle pose simply wasn’t possible without making the animation look awkward.
The interaction currently works on regular sofas and benches, but sectional sofas are not supported. Both Sims also need to already be watching either a TV channel or a movie before the romantic option becomes available.
Base Game Compatible With One Required Dependency
One of the biggest advantages of this release is that it’s fully base game compatible, so no expansion packs are required.
Players will, however, need the XML Injector installed for the interaction to appear correctly. The creator also recommends pairing the mod with kayladot’s “Invite to Watch TV and Movies” mod, which makes it much easier to get both Sims watching television together before starting the cuddle interaction.
The creator also chose not to include a custom mood buff since Sims already receive multiple moodlets from watching TV together while socializing and cuddling. Rather than overriding the game’s existing “Cuddle While Watching Movie” interaction, simkatu decided to build this as a completely separate romantic interaction after testing showed that an override did not produce satisfying results.

It gives couples another simple way to spend quality time together without needing a special event or date night, making home life feel a little warmer and more believable.
