The Sims 4 CAS Starter Sims are getting a meaningful refresh, and it’s one of the most welcome additions from the latest free base game update. EA has officially introduced eight brand-new default Sims inspired by Native American, South Asian, Caribbean, and Latin American cultures, along with new Create a Sim accessories designed to give players even more authentic ways to tell their stories.

These new Sims arrived with the July 21 base game update and are already available to download from the Maxis Gallery. Even better, their new accessories can be used on any Sim, giving every player more options to personalize their households.

Sims 4 CAS Starter Sims Celebrate More Cultures

The Sims team created these new default Sims as part of its ongoing effort to make Create a Sim feel more inclusive and representative of players around the world. After reviewing player survey feedback, the developers found opportunities to better represent Native American, South Asian, Caribbean, and Latin American cultures through new starter Sims and CAS content.

To make sure these additions felt authentic, EA collaborated with internal team members and external cultural consultants throughout development. Every Sim, from their facial features and skin tones to their clothing, traits, aspirations, and accessories, went through multiple rounds of review before being added to the game.

Unique Accessories Inspired by Real Cultures

Each of the eight new Sims introduces a unique accessory that reflects part of their cultural identity while giving every player more customization options in Create a Sim. Since these accessories are available for all Sims, they’re a welcome addition even if you don’t use the default households.

Some highlights include Yuniel Suarez’s colorful Afro-Caribbean inspired cowrie shell bracelets, Roshni Agarwal’s refined South Asian bangles, Mohan Singh’s Sikh kara, and Rodrigo Vargas’ huayruro seed bracelet inspired by Peruvian culture. The Sims team shared that these designs were carefully refined with guidance from cultural experts to better reflect their real-world significance.

The Stories Behind the New Sims

The developers wanted the Sims 4 CAS Starter Sims to feel like fully developed characters instead of being defined by a single cultural trait. That’s why each Sim received a combination of aspirations, personalities, and hobbies that work together naturally.

For example, Roshni is a creative Sim with the Neighborhood Confidante aspiration, while Nathan Goodstrike dreams of becoming a Bestselling Author and combines Genius, Neat, and Self-Assured traits. Members of The Sims team also contributed personal experiences while designing characters connected to their own backgrounds, helping each Sim feel even more authentic.

These eight new Sims are only the beginning. EA confirmed that more free updates are planned throughout the year, including additional everyday clothing and Build/Buy items that continue expanding cultural representation across the game.
