With new Kits dropping just over a week, simmers are eager to see what’s coming. Images have been released so we can dive into those Kit previews now!
EA recently released their Autumn 2024 Roadmap which included 2 new Kits releasing on September 19, the Artist Studio Kit and the Storybook Nursery Kit, and some teaser images for both DLCs have since been leaked. The theme of the roadmap this time around is “To Be Continued…” which left us curious how this theme might tie into the Kits.
We did some speculation based on how they were revealed, so let’s check out this Kit preview and see if we were right!
Autumn 2024 Kit Preview – Artist Studio Kit
The first Kit preview we have is for the Artist Studio Kit. This Kit appears to be focused on “worn” objects/furniture, with new versions of several items our Creative sims might use. We can see an easel, drawing tablet, and woodworking bench along with lots of paint-covered furniture items and themed decor.
The initial reveal of the Kits was done via tarot card which had us speculating that the style of them would be of similar aesthetic, having an ancient Roman/Greek vibe. While that’s not really the case with this Kit’s simpler, clean lines, we can see a little bit of that influence in the decorative pottery styles that are coming in it.
The whole idea of “To Be Continued…” suggests that the main theme of the roadmap this time around is death/the afterlife, and while there aren’t any major aspects of that with the Artist Studio Kit we can see in the decorative wall art that there are some death-adjacent themes, such as skulls, Grim, and what looks like a sad or mourning sim. It does not appear that we will be getting any new sculpture or painting options though, based on the Kit preview images, which is a bit surprising.
Autumn 2024 Kit Preview – Storybook Nursery Kit
“To Be Continued…” doesn’t necessarily refer to the afterlife and in the case of this nursery Kit, we imagine it’s more connected to the “Storybook” aspect of the theming. Some stories are wrapped up quite nicely when they end, but other times they might terminate on a cliffhanger to get you to continue onto the next tale.
The Storybook Nursery Kit preview shows us a collection of new furniture focused on Infants and Toddlers that matches many base game pieces, allowing it to integrate seamlessly while also matching certain custom content quite well also.
With this Kit preview we see a range of new and opulent pieces for your little ones with a swatch variety that fits both the Angela and Lilith Pleasants of the world. There is a new Infant bassinet, Toddler bed, changing table, playmat, dollhouse, toy blocks, rocking chair, ceiling and table lighting, and what appears to be an amoire. There’s also a pram and toy storage that may be functional or decorative, along with multiple decorative and/or clutter objects including an adorable animal plush.
In addition to the Storybook element fitting the “To Be Continued…” theming, some of the pieces are clear references to the Goth household (such as the shape of the dollhouse and the grey cat plushie sporting a strapless red dress, along with the above image of what looks to be an adult Alexander Goth watching his children) which historically has had a unique relationship with Death and beyond. This probably doesn’t mean there’s going to be anything related to death in the Kit—young sims can’t die in vanilla gameplay anyway—but there may be some hidden lore in the catalog descriptions.
Get Your Kits On September 19
The new Kits haven’t made it to the game’s DLC page yet so we’re unable to do a full Kit preview with every known item that’s coming, however these leaked images give us a pretty good idea of what to expect. Based on previous offerings we anticipate each Kit will have 25-30 items which will primarily consist of Buy Mode content, although it looks like we can expect at least 1 new wallpaper with the Storybook Nursery Kit also.
Are you excited about the new Kits? Which one is your favorite of the two? How to you think they incorporate the idea of the “To Be Continued…” theme? Let us know in the comments, and check back for more news and updates for the Autumn 2024 Roadmap. Have fun, and happy simming!
