How to install CC
To install package (.package) files for custom content (CC) in The Sims 4, you first need to locate your Mods folder. This is usually found in your Documents under Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 > Mods. If the Mods folder doesn’t exist, you can create one manually. Download your CC files (they often come in .zip or .rar format), then extract them using a tool like WinRAR or 7-Zip. Once extracted, place the .package files directly into the Mods folder or into subfolders inside it (you can organize by category if you like).
Next, make sure custom content is enabled in the game. Open The Sims 4, go to Game Options > Other, and check both “Enable Custom Content and Mods” and “Script Mods Allowed.” After applying these settings, restart your game. When the game launches again, a pop-up list should appear showing all detected CC. If your files are correctly installed, they will now be available in Create-a-Sim, Build Mode, or Buy Mode depending on the type of content.
Troubleshooting
If your CC isn’t showing up, there are a few common troubleshooting steps. First, check that the files are no more than one folder deep inside the Mods folder (script mods especially must not be deeply nested). Make sure the files are still in .package format and not zipped. Also verify that your game is updated and that the CC is compatible with the current version—outdated mods can break or fail to load. Finally, try deleting the localthumbcache.package file from your Sims 4 folder and restarting the game, as this can fix many CC-related issues.
