If you have ever wanted to video call another Sim only to realize you need to grab your phone, open the social app, scroll around, and finally find the video call option, Sasha’s Space has a tiny mod that makes the whole process much easier. The Video Call on the Rel Panel Mod adds the interaction directly to the relationship panel.
The mini mod was shared by Sasha’s Space on August 4 and is designed as a simple quality-of-life improvement. Instead of going through several menus, your Sims can access Video Call from the same relationship panel where they already find options for calling and texting.
Video Call Comes Directly to the Relationship Panel
The Video Call on the Rel Panel Mod places the Video Call interaction under the Social menu in the relationship panel. This means you can click on a Sim from the panel and start a video call without opening the phone first.
It is a small change, but it can make a surprisingly big difference during everyday gameplay. It is especially handy for players who use custom phone apps, where getting through the phone menus can take a little extra time.
Sims Can Still Have Thoughts About Their Calls
There is also a nice compatibility feature included with the mod. Sasha’s Space worked with Simkatu to incorporate the outcome from the Extended Phone Calls mod, allowing Sims to still have thoughts about their calls after using the new Video Call interaction.
So, if you already enjoy the extra reactions from Extended Phone Calls, the two mods can work together seamlessly. You will need Simkatu’s Extended Phone Calls mod to see those additional thoughts and reactions after the video call.
Video Call on the Rel Panel Mod Requirements
Before installing, there is one important requirement to keep in mind. The Video Call on the Rel Panel Mod requires the XML Injector mod to work properly, so make sure you have it installed alongside the mod.
Sasha’s Space also credits Simkatu for allowing the Extended Phone Calls functionality to be included with this mini mod. The download is provided as the Sspace_VideoCallRelPanel.package file on the creator’s Patreon post.
Final Thoughts
Sometimes the smallest Sims 4 mods are the ones that make everyday gameplay feel much smoother, and this one definitely fits that category. Being able to start a video call straight from the relationship panel saves a few clicks and keeps you focused on your Sims instead of digging through phone menus.
