The Trick or Treat Tradition Overhaul mod by batsandbabydolls gives your Sims a more interactive way to celebrate Halloween in The Sims 4! If you love creating spooky holidays for your Sims, this mod adds a custom Trick or Treat interaction, candy rewards, and a chance for things to go a little wrong when Sims knock on someone’s door for treats.

The mod also makes the existing Trick or Treat holiday tradition more flexible by allowing additional candy-related interactions to count toward completing it. There are two versions to choose from, including a newer alternative that lets trick-or-treaters save their candy for later. Let’s take a closer look at what this mod brings to your Sims’ spooky season!

How the Trick or Treat Tradition Overhaul Mod Works

The Trick or Treat Tradition Overhaul introduces a custom Trick or Treat! social interaction that becomes available during holidays featuring the Trick or Treat tradition. Sims can find it under the Friendly category when interacting with another eligible Sim, giving your households a more direct way to celebrate the occasion.

The interaction works for child Sims and older when asking Sims who are teens or older for candy. If the interaction succeeds, the Sim being asked rewards the trick-or-treater with a piece of candy. However, not every attempt has to go smoothly. Sims might get shooed away, while teen and older trick-or-treaters may even receive a prank response when things don’t go their way.

Get Candy With Two Different Mod Versions

One of the most useful features of the Trick or Treat Tradition Overhaul is that you can choose between two versions depending on how you want trick-or-treating to work in your game. The original version makes the asking Sim eat the candy immediately after a successful interaction and receive a custom moodlet. Version 2 takes a different approach, giving the Sim a random piece of candy in their inventory instead. This version also includes a custom notification and moodlet, allowing your Sims to keep their treats and enjoy them whenever they want.

The creator released Version 2 as an alternative that requires the Businesses and Hobbies Expansion Pack. If you want to switch from the original version, make sure to remove the original mod file before installing Version 2. Only one version can be installed at a time, so double-check which file you’re using before adding it to your Mods folder.

Trick or Treat Tradition Overhaul Adds More Ways to Celebrate

The custom interaction isn’t the only way the Trick or Treat Tradition Overhaul changes the holiday experience. It also expands the interactions that can satisfy the Trick or Treat tradition, giving players more freedom when planning their Sims’ Halloween celebrations.

Depending on the packs you own, the tradition can now be satisfied by grabbing a treat from the Sugar and Spice Candy Bowl from Spooky Stuff, eating a Forbidden Candy from the Unassuming Candy Jar from Paranormal Stuff, or sneaking a treat to a grandchild from Growing Together. The new custom Trick or Treat! interaction also counts toward completing the tradition.

Don’t worry if you prefer the original, unmodded activities. The Trick or Treat Tradition Overhaul doesn’t remove any of the existing ways to satisfy the tradition. Your Sims can still use Mischief interactions, give NPC trick-or-treaters a trick or a treat, or give gifts to help complete their holiday goals.

Sims Can Go Trick or Treating Autonomously

The Trick or Treat Tradition Overhaul also gives younger Sims a little more independence during the spooky season. Children and teens can autonomously use the Trick or Treat! interaction whenever it’s available, so you may catch them asking other Sims for candy without having to direct every single action yourself.

For young adult Sims and older, the interaction is available when directed by the player, but they won’t autonomously go trick-or-treating. This distinction helps keep the activity focused on younger Sims while still letting players send older characters out for a little Halloween fun when it suits their stories.

Trick or Treat Tradition Overhaul Mod Requirements and Compatibility

The original version requires The Sims 4: Seasons Expansion Pack and XML Injector. Version 2 requires Seasons, Businesses and Hobbies, and XML Injector. Since the two versions are alternatives, make sure you install only the version that matches your available packs and preferred gameplay.

The mod is not compatible with other mods that change the conditions required to complete the Trick or Treat tradition. However, it is compatible with mods that only change the conditions for loving or ignoring the tradition. If you’re already using holiday mods, it’s worth checking their features before installing this one to avoid conflicts.

Final Thoughts

The Trick or Treat Tradition Overhaul by batsandbabydolls is a fun option for Simmers who want their Halloween holidays to feel a little more interactive. Between the custom social interaction, random candy rewards, possible pranks, and additional ways to complete the tradition, it gives younger Sims more opportunities to enjoy the spooky season.

We use EmailOctopus to manage newsletters, with Amazon SES for delivery through EmailOctopus Connect. 5. How We Use Information

We use information to operate SnootySims, provide and secure accounts, recover access, answer requests, send subscribed communications, improve content and performance, understand site use, prevent fraud, meet legal obligations, and deliver and measure advertising, including personalized advertising where applicable.

6. Cookies and Similar Technologies

We and our providers may use cookies, local storage, pixels and similar technologies for sessions, security, preferences, analytics, advertising and ad measurement. For example, browser storage remembers site preferences and guest usage limits.

You can manage cookies through your browser and use privacy controls available on the Site. Blocking storage may affect account features or preferences. Raptive advertising controls apply to Raptive ads; they do not necessarily control every other service on the Site.

7. Analytics and Google Services

The Site uses Google Tag Manager to load configured tags. Where Google Analytics is enabled, it may process device and browser information, page views, referrals, session activity, approximate location and cookies or similar identifiers to help us understand site use and improve content. Google also processes information when you choose Google sign-in. See the Google Privacy Policy.

8. Advertising and Raptive

Advertising.

CMI Marketing, Inc., d/b/a Raptive (“Raptive”) is a service provider of this Site for the purposes of placing advertising on the Site, and Raptive will collect and use certain data for advertising purposes. To learn more about Raptive’s data usage, click here: Raptive Advertising Privacy Statement

Raptive and its partners may use cookies, device identifiers, IP addresses, browser information, browsing and ad activity, approximate location and inferred interests for personalized ads, measurement, analytics and fraud prevention. These disclosures may qualify as a “sale,” “sharing,” or “targeted advertising” under state privacy laws, even without exchanging a customer database for money.

9. Advertising Privacy Choices

For US visitors, Raptive supplies a “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” control through its ad code, ordinarily at the bottom of the homepage or the first ad-supported page you visit. Use that control to manage Raptive advertising choices. If it is unavailable, contact us. Opting out does not remove all ads; contextual or non-personalized ads may still appear.

Browser-based choices may need to be repeated on other browsers or devices or after clearing cookies.

10. How We Disclose Information

Information may be disclosed to hosting, infrastructure, authentication, email, analytics and security providers to operate the Site; to Raptive and advertising partners for the purposes described above; when required by law or necessary to protect rights and security; and to parties involved in a merger, acquisition, financing or sale of business assets, subject to applicable law. Providers may process information outside your state or country, including in the United States.

11. US State Privacy Rights

Depending on your state of residence and whether the applicable law applies to SnootySims, you may have rights to confirm processing, access, correct or delete information, obtain a portable copy, and opt out of sale, sharing, targeted advertising or certain profiling. Where applicable, you may limit certain sensitive-information uses and appeal a denied request. We will not unlawfully discriminate against you for exercising these rights.

12. California Privacy Notice

  • Internet activity: pages viewed, searches, clicks and Site or advertising interactions.
  • Approximate location: location inferred from an IP address.

Other applicable laws may also give you access, correction, deletion, portability, objection, restriction and complaint rights. You may withdraw consent for consent-based processing without affecting earlier lawful processing.

14. Global Privacy Control

Raptive states that its advertising systems recognize Global Privacy Control (GPC) as an opt-out signal. Qualifying GPC signals are treated as opt-out requests where applicable law requires. These browser-based advertising choices do not delete your account or unsubscribe you from emails. GPC is different from the older “Do Not Track” signal; we do not promise a uniform response to that older signal.

15. Retention and Security

We keep information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described here, including providing services, security, legal compliance, resolving disputes, fraud prevention and respecting unsubscribe requests. After an eligible deletion request, information may be deleted or de-identified, subject to applicable exceptions.
