Interactive Placemats lets Sims order meals straight from the table, making parties, dinners, and events much smoother in The Sims 4.

Large family dinners and crowded events in The Sims 4 can quickly turn chaotic, especially when Sims keep leaving their seats to grab food. The new Interactive Placemats mod by Chérisi is here to make mealtime feel much more organized and realistic!
This clever gameplay mod lets Sims purchase food directly from a placemat, with meals spawning right in front of them. It is a small change that can make a huge difference for storytelling, parties, weddings, restaurants, and everyday gameplay.
Interactive Placemats Keeps Sims Seated During Meals
One of the biggest frustrations during group meals is watching Sims constantly stand up, wander around, or crowd the kitchen instead of staying seated. Interactive Placemats solves that problem by allowing players to order meals directly from the dining table.
Instead of using the Call to Meal interaction or manually placing servings for every Sim, players can simply click the placemat and purchase food instantly. Meals appear directly at the table, making gatherings feel smoother and much more natural.

A Useful Alternative to Banquet Tables
The mod is especially useful for players who do not enjoy relying on banquet tables for large events. It creates a more flexible setup while still keeping mealtime functional and organized.
This also helps with immersion since Sims no longer need to interrupt conversations or stand up repeatedly to grab plates. For storytelling players and rotational households, this tiny gameplay improvement can make dinner scenes feel far more polished.

Sims Can Order Main Courses, Desserts, and Experimental Food
Interactive Placemats includes three separate food categories for players to choose from in Live Mode. Sims can order Main Courses, Desserts, and even Experimental dishes.
The Experimental category includes all experimental foods from The Sims 4: Dine Out, giving players easier access to meals that are normally tied to gameplay progression. This is especially helpful for players who want decorative food variety or upscale restaurant storytelling without extra setup work.

How the Interactive Placemats Mod Works
To use the mod, players simply search for “interactive placemat” in Build and Buy mode. The placemat can then be placed on dining tables or other compatible surfaces where Sims can eat.
Once in Live Mode, clicking the placemat opens food categories where meals can be purchased instantly. Plates automatically slot onto the placemat first, and players can drag them onto the table surface if needed. The process is quick, simple, and designed to reduce tedious setup during gameplay.

Multiple Versions Are Included
Chérisi included several file options so players can customize the experience based on their preferences. The CORE file is required for the mod to function properly regardless of which additional folders players choose to keep.
There are also custom placemats included specifically for the mod, along with Parenthood-inspired placemats. Interestingly, the Parenthood versions are not overrides, and players do not need the Parenthood Game Pack for them to work.
Final Thoughts
Interactive Placemats mod by Chérisi feels like one of those quality-of-life mods that many Simmers will immediately add to their gameplay folders. The ability to keep Sims seated while making food service easier can seriously improve both realism and convenience during group meals.
The mod is currently in Early Access, with the full public release scheduled for May 30. If you enjoy immersive family gameplay, event storytelling, or smoother restaurant setups, this is definitely one to keep an eye on.
